There's really only one true head turner if
you're my age and you can all remember where
you were when Ed Sullivan said "The Beatles"....

I've always liked this band name because it's so "who the f*** cares what people think".

Butthole Surfers was mentioned earlier but one of their albums has an even more ingenious name....

Hairway to Steven.

Classic.

A band name that is so ridiculous and hard to pronounce that it is awesome:

Abominable Putridity

That wins forever.

The last band I was in was called Panic Attack Theatre, I think that's a badass name.

Instrumental rock with the drummer soloing through every song. Was crazy hectic and intense.

Yes.

"Guess who that band is on the radio?"
"Uhm... U2?"
"Yes!"
"I was right? Its U2?"
"No, Yes!"
"W-what?"

In a similar context, the Guess Who.

Armed and Hammered - gratified to see this one mentioned earlier
Men Without Work - tentative name for an 80s cover band
The Skinny Ties - another 80s cover band I was in
Acres of Suede - Webb Wilder's fictional band
The Beatnecks - Webb Wilder's real band
Timbuk 3 - just a great name

... and my favourite album name (I forget the band name) ...

Electric Landlady

(This is the only stoner rock band I've ever heard with a female singer, so it definitely stands out)
