My favorite on the song list right now is probably " Good time Charlie's got the blues". I think Danny O'Keefe was the original artist, the version we do is closer to Charlie Rich's.

Been playing country in Oklahoma, Kansas, & Texas since somewhere around 1989.

I run sound for the band. No spoiled fruit throwing please. I play bass too though and am working my way into the playing thing (so I can sub for our full time bass player when he's gone). My favorite song to play is Walk The Line by Johhny Cash

I play Texas music. We only do originals. I don't know how country we are but one of our tunes made the Dallas Observers List of 10 best local country tunes for 2012. http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/dc9/...as_country.php click on "Honest Lie" on their page to hear it.

Well I've been lurking around for a while and I guess its time for my debut post! I play in a Red Dirt/Nashville/90's Country band with a little more of a rock twist in the great state of Texas. Similar sound to Brantley Gilbert and the like, but with a bit more Texas sound. My favorite song has to be Ain't Livin' Long Like This - Waylon Jennings.

I haven't been in a country only band for years. Still do a few country songs though.

Hard to pick a favorite. Probably the song I enjoy playing most is "East Bound and Down" by Jerry Reed. I enjoy any and all Johnny Cash. I also have a soft spot for "All My Ex's Live in Texas" just because it was a signature song in one band I was in.

I've played country, as well as most other genres, near all my life. My current favourites to play are Red Dirt Girl, From This Valley, and Miles And Miles Of Texas. I play in a couple of country bands, Borderline and The Haggard Brothers. Bass guitar or double bass, depending on the gig.

Played rock and roll for many years but starting to get into more country nowadays.

I guess my favorite is "Fast as You" by Dwight Yoakam although I also like
Rocky Top - Phish version
Aimee - Pure Prairie League
All About Tonight - Blake Shelton
Like My Dog - Billy Currington

Yee Haw, fellers, them's some catchy tunes.

Since the 80's

Played in a progressive country band, where we were grandfathered in the Ft.Worth Stock Yards, and got to open for nationally known acts such as "Brian White, when he sang Rebecca Lynn, and bull rider turned singer Doug Supernaw, when his hit was, Reno". Number please! OOps, favorite song is "The Dance", by Garth Brooks, where I incorporated the bass solo from the end of "TOTO's 99", to the very end of The Dance, and it comes off great!

I am mostly playing in my geezer rock band but was asked to sub for a country band called "The Suburban Cowboys" in the Chicago area. Now I'm hooked. I got a hillbilly bone I guess. I like "Truck yea", "Chattahoochie", "Grundy County Auction", "Beer for my Horse's" etc. .
Yes country is getting big in Chicago.

Im in what is turning into a 90% country band. Some newer tunes, mostly older Waylon, Haggard, etc.

Favorites to play:

East Bound and Down
Amos Moses
Aint Living Long Like This
Lonesome Onry And Mean

List could go on, but those are my favorites.

We still throw in some Stones, Skynyrd on our sets though

Ha! We do have a fiddle in the band! He's pretty good too and a good singer to boot.

BTW, Thanks! two fingers for the nice comment about my 79 P bass in the "70's Fender Dark Ages" thread over in the bass guitar area!

Do you play the octave disco-style bass line? That sucker used to kill my hand! I had to insist it be the last song of the set! ouch

Oh, and welcome!

Thanks! It just wouldn't be right if you didn't But yeah it will wear your left hand out after a while. We used to put it at the end of one of our sets so I could shake my hand out afterwards.

Sign me up. Here's a link to our site: http://www.andyvaughanmusic.com/

My favorite country song we cover is Don't Worry by Marty Robbins. I get to bust out the fuzz bass solo on that one.
