Been playing country in Oklahoma, Kansas, & Texas since somewhere around 1989.

I play bass too though and am working my way into the playing thing (so I can sub for our full time bass player when he's gone). My favorite song to play is Walk The Line by Johhny Cash

I don't know how country we are but one of our tunes made the Dallas Observers List of 10 best local country tunes for 2012. http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/dc9/...as_country.php click on "Honest Lie" on their page to hear it. |

| | | | Well I've been lurking around for a while and I guess its time for my debut post! I play in a Red Dirt/Nashville/90's Country band with a little more of a rock twist in the great state of Texas. Similar sound to Brantley Gilbert and the like, but with a bit more Texas sound. My favorite song has to be Ain't Livin' Long Like This - Waylon Jennings. |

Hard to pick a favorite. Probably the song I enjoy playing most is "East Bound and Down" by Jerry Reed. I enjoy any and all Johnny Cash. I also have a soft spot for "All My Ex's Live in Texas" just because it was a signature song in one band I was in. |

My current favourites to play are Red Dirt Girl, From This Valley, and Miles And Miles Of Texas. I play in a couple of country bands, Borderline and The Haggard Brothers. Bass guitar or double bass, depending on the gig.

I guess my favorite is "Fast as You" by Dwight Yoakam although I also like
Rocky Top - Phish version
Aimee - Pure Prairie League
All About Tonight - Blake Shelton
Like My Dog - Billy Currington
Yee Haw, fellers, them's some catchy tunes.

Number please! OOps, favorite song is "The Dance", by Garth Brooks, where I incorporated the bass solo from the end of "TOTO's 99", to the very end of The Dance, and it comes off great!

| | | | I am mostly playing in my geezer rock band but was asked to sub for a country band called "The Suburban Cowboys" in the Chicago area. Now I'm hooked. I got a hillbilly bone I guess. I like "Truck yea", "Chattahoochie", "Grundy County Auction", "Beer for my Horse's" etc. .
Yes country is getting big in Chicago.

BTW, Thanks! two fingers for the nice comment about my 79 P bass in the "70's Fender Dark Ages" thread over in the bass guitar area!

Oh, and welcome! | Thanks! It just wouldn't be right if you didn't But yeah it will wear your left hand out after a while. We used to put it at the end of one of our sets so I could shake my hand out afterwards.

My favorite country song we cover is Don't Worry by Marty Robbins. I get to bust out the fuzz bass solo on that one. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
