Do you have a banjo player or a guitarist playing the banjo rolls in that song, or do you just push through it without them? We're having a hard time getting either of the guitarists to do it.
Push through without it.

This song goes over well with almost any crowd... doesn't have to be country.

Texas Country Cover Band

Favorite cover song, "Texas on my Mind". We play it a bit different than Django Walker or Pat Green does. It is towards the bottom of the song list if anyone wants to hear it. (unmixed free air recordings)

We just started doing Jamey Johnsons "High Cost of Living". I sing it... that may prove to be my new favorite. If you love outlaw or old country and have not been turned onto Jamey Johnson, check out "That Lonesome Song". Its a great piece of work.

Its an oldie but a goodie!

I ordered it brand-new sometime around 91-93. I've never owned any bass longer. Funny thing is though, in recent years I rarely used it because I was doing classic rock and just didnt need it. Now that I'm in the country band, its my main player- I never realized how much you need the low D & D# in country.

I'd love to own an old Nudie suit like that. If you want a similar suit, you're either going to be laying down some serious coin, or you're going to have to go the cheaper route and buy a western style suit, like Scully, and bedazzle it.

Here are some links to custom and off the rack western suits/suitmakers:

Yeah he's pretty much the walking, talking, blow dried poster child for everything I hate about so much new country music.

Believe it or not, but the last band I was in, we played "Save a Horse".... and our keyboardist had the "banjo sound" in one of his keyboards. He played that part and it went over well. We also played that dreaded "Red Solo Cup" song (the audience loved it) and the keys guys played that banjo sounding hook in that song too. Before we had a keys guy, we played thru it.

Count me in, BSB. As acting President of the Redneck Bassist Club you know I gotta be in this one too. The song is, "Pancho & Lefty" by Townes Van Zant; recorded by a bunch of folks.

I know......but it was a 6 piece band and I would have gotten out-voted/over-ruled if I had objected.....so I just went with it. We had to adapt to the situation.

No disrespect meant to the late GREAT Earl Scruggs. I love his music and playing.

I hear ya Tx! Sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do. I guess I really do need to learn to be a little more tolerant since I am beginning to realize that I've just joined a Country Bassists club that is heavily populated by Yankee carpetbagger cowboys and led by a guy from Taxachusetts who thinks "Save a Horse..." is a country song.

No offense meant BSB! Just joking around. I'm sure you have a still out back behind that garage where you park your car!
