I present, for your amusement and derision, an "awesome musician". (No he really is. He says so himself in the first sentence)

awesome musician seeking bandmates

It's a she, btw. And the last sentences explained the attitude behind the posting.

Wow. So I'm not the only female rocker who also likes old time and contra dance music (I used to be the guitar half of a contra dance fiddle and guitar duo). Now if only I would quit playing wiener covers and start liking Radiohead, I could be as awesome as she is!

for when it gets deleted

Not to brag but I'm an awesome musician and I'm looking to start a contemporary rock band. I'm classically trained with experience in pretty much every genre you can think of. I play a variety of instruments but prefer muddier, melodic growls like bass clarinet and tenor sax. Don't roll your eyes, the best bands are more like orchestras (think Radiohead or Cursive) and have a high degree of musicality, not just a phat beat and sweet riffs (and don't send me an email if you want to start an emo band cause your singing is gorg and you want to bang a lot of chicks).

I'm interested in playing fusion, but not your dad's fusion okay? Think rock & roll + African drumming + Balkan time signatures + rad lyrics + bleeding guitar fingers + phat beats + wailing and serious emotion. I don't want to play covers cause covers are for wieners. I don't want to play country music. I don't want to play old time music even though I love old time music and contra dancing rules. I don't want to jam for 12 minutes per track, I want to play concise, well-written songs with something big underneath that people can dance to.

Serious inquiries only. All instruments welcome. Need a singer too, obviously. Be available to rehearse twice a week. I have space to play at my house and my neighbors are cool. Also, I'm a girl. I'm pretty nice too, despite the tone of this message. I'm just trying to weed out the posers.

Nothing wrong whatsoever with the CL ad. She's very clear about what she wants out of the deal and she seems like she's got the experience to back up the *minor* attitude. No laws broken there.

Arrogant? NO
Confident? YES

I personally like the ad, she seems to know what she wants and her last paragraph really highlights that.

Sounds like a good band idea to me too, but I don't know what contra means [short for contrapuntal?]

Don't forget our very own silly CL's ad megathread still going strong here

Like she said, she's trying to weed out the emo's and cover band weiners.

That ad will resonate with a select group, and that's how she wants it.

I wouldn't mind hearing a sound clip or two. Confidence like that needs to be backed up with a little proof of her awesome musicality.

As with any advertisements, you need to stick out with CL postings and this certainly did so I think it was well-made.

I would also call. This is the type of person that i would want to be in a band with.

Laugh at her now, but when she gets a band together with a unique sound that people can dance to, she'll be laughing all the way to the covers of all your favorite magazines.
