Nice Jim...

Thats very cool...I call music my wife and surfing the mistress. It feels that way in every regard as well.

Its funny I have a promo quiver shot of all my Rusty boards that I'm supposed to be doing next weekend when I get one of them back from a friend. I'll have to post it.

(I have a go-pro on my short list so I can actually take some video of me surfing and it goes without saying that I have to put my own music on it )

I have two Gopro cameras. I really like em. I got a GoPro wide (standard def) and later got the GoPro HD when it came out.

The first vid is with the standard def gopro, second is with the high def version.

Nice DerTeufel...

I have to admit that I feel a little kooky about wanting to shoot myself that way, but I'm looking forward to doing it as well.

Thanks for sharing...

He's not the only one that knows about that. I'm a product of the southwest VA coalfields.

Yeah, a band I was in was invited to play Knott's Berry Farms one summer back in 1978 but we declined...anyway, sorry for the vent folks...I am just an old curmudgeon with a conundrum...

Hey DT, you know where Welch, West Virginia is? McDowell County? Where did you hang your hat in SW Virginia?

Crow, I grew up in Big Stone Gap, Virginia. I may have passed through Welch while traveling with my stepdad to Beckley or Charleston. I cannot recall though..a lot of those trips were made in the wee morning hours and I was conked out in the passenger seat (to which I was called the worst co-pilot ever).

My maternal grandfather was a coal miner as was all of his brothers. He died in 1937, (22 years before I was born, and no, it wasn't from a mining accident.)

The singer/guitarist/songwriter for the Green Ridge Runners (Paul Haller) is from a mining family and was born in Morgantown. The very first original song that he shared with us was "Homesick miner". I live about 30 miles from the West Virginia border and spend my share of time there.

I really like West Virgina by the way, and yes, I definitely understand what you mean. I went to California for the first time at age 16 and stood on the beach. I felt like Neil Armstrong. lol I enjoyed California for sure, but it's a world away from the Appalachian mountain range.

Very cool pics!

You're not a curmudgeon in my book, hon. Care to talk about the conundrum? My PM is always open.

My Dad's people came from the Tazewell/Big Stone Gap area. The Indians called Tice "the Little Devil with the Big Nose"...a fitting description of my paternal grandfather. That's beautiful country where you grew up.

Tat, sweetheart, we'll put my conundrum in your cauldron and dance around it while chanting those magic words...

edit: sorry to distract from the beautiful California seascape. It's just that I was more of a Link Wray guy than a Dick Dale guy....there I go, showing my age again.

There is definitely a lot of history from that part of the world, and I love researching and reading the history of it.

It is indeed beautiful country.

So...

I have mentioned on more than one occasion that my first bass was a (pretty awful) Telestar that I got for my birthday when I was just a lad. I traded mine for my first drumset about 40 years ago. Admittedly, since I started down the road to being a "serious" bassist I've thought about that bass a LOT. Telestar basses apparently were not sold in big numbers. Finding the exact model that I owned has been fruitless, until now. There is one on ebay right now. It is EXACTLY like mine was.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...E:B:SS:US:1123

I expect the price will climb out of sight. I can't really afford a bass purchase right now. It would make no sense to buy this part of my past.

But...

I REALLY, REALLY, REALLY WANT IT!!!

Sigh.

The part for my bike came yesterday. I have since installed and tested. It's good to go and have put it up for sale!

The bridge on that bass is interesting.

Sometimes a guy has to do what a guy has to do Drummer. If I come across a Raven Jazz style bass (my first) I'll be all over it just for the nostalgia. It was what started me down this path many, many years ago.
