I had forgotten about the case with the built-in amplifier. How funny is that ...

Thanks for the other supporting comments guys, I appreciate it!

They build new ones every day and I am pretty hooked on my MapleGlo Ric which is not listed. | That is right where I've been for the past few years .... I have my main basses, all of which serve a specific purpose and other than those, I've ditched all the rest. The only bass I still own that really doesn't have an "everyday" purpose is the fretted 7, which is currently wall art. If the used market wasn't so soft right now I would have sold it a long time ago. For now, I'm keeping it and maybe a potential trade for a fretless 7 will crop up.
I've reached the point where basses must be giggable or I don't keep them. I have a DB, a Barker 6 string, an FBB 6 string slab, a one-off 8 string (single course), & a 30" scale semi-hollowbody, all of which are fretless. I also have a parts P bass that is fretted which I use for teaching and the FBB fretted 7. I stopped using fretted basses a couple of years back and see no need for them in the future (expect for the classes). I also have a cello, but that doesn't count towards the bass total
But I agree, if any bass goes out the door, no tears will be shed. I only protect the Barker, FBB 6 and DB, which are all truly my main players .... |

I use an Azola Bug Bass for "upright" apps; three fretless Birdsongs (two 4's and a 5) with different woods and pups, a fretless Franken P with a Bill Lawrence pup and a Warwick Corvette Std fretless 5...

The only "electrified" uprights I feel comfortable on are the Baby Bass or an Eminence ... at least they have a little meat to lean up against. The Barker is just a bass guitar turned vertical with a chambered body, but no arco capabilities. I get away with it in most jazz settings because it looks "upright" enough to the audience and the tone is staggeringly good.
But I miss the DB neck length and the bowing abilities. I've only used an Eminence a few times so I'm not sure how cool it would be in the long run, and the Baby Bass is really more of a percussive thing than a good jazz bass. |

I should sell at least one or two basses. I have a Joe Veillette fretless five that is a remarkable instrument but it just doesn't fit into anything I play with others. I'm not using my '62 RI Jazz, but I would have a hard time emotionally parting with that. I'm actually thinking of giving it to the daughter of my close friend who (the daughter) is going off to college in the fall. She's a pretty good guitar player - if she switched to bass, which I am going to encourage her to do, she would never lack for gigs. (She's also very beautiful and an amazing human being.) The other candidate is my fretless Sterling, but I'm thinking of turning that into a Red Mitchell bass with C-G-D-A tuning (cello but an octave down). Completely crazy project but one I hope to get to.

The JetGlo Ric I can also part with easily. My Aerodyne P/J is absolutely gorgeous to look at but I just don't play it much even though it is so amazingly light. If those 3 went I'd pull the Geddy Lee J down as it was my first and I am a bit attached to it. But even then the Geddy will only go if I get a solid price for it. The other ones would serve me better right now as cash in the bank (or rather paying down some bills).
