@ DT - don't get down on yourself. Everyone has bumps, but in the grand scheme of things, they're temporary.
@ BSB - I'm so sorry to hear about your wife's cousin. Love and prayers to your family.
@ Mike - hope the arm gets better soon. On the other point...buy her shoes. www.6pm.com.
In Tatland, I made the last visit to my dad today before driving back to Florida. He sat up tonight to eat dinner, and he did his third straight day of physical therapy. He's still in a lot of pain and his clock is ticking, but he's improved since my arrival three weeks ago. In a nutshell, his liver is failing. Fifty plus years of hard drinking have given him cirrhosis. He's now on a no salt, no spice, no caffeine, no drinking, and medicine only under a doctor's supervision plan. They've had to take him off all the leukemia medicines and he may not ever be able to take them again. All in all, I'm glad I came. I've made my peace and done the right things. He's waiting now to choose his moment and I'm sure it's going to be something that only a handful of people understand but makes him feel like he had it the way he wanted it. He's always been about doing things his own way.
Drive back begins in the morning, and then we shall see if life begins to come back to normal. FM and PA...thank you both for a couple of days of sanity in the midst of the madness. You're lifesavers.

Hope the sunshine comes back soon! I don't check in here all that often, and mostly for my less-than-discrete stalking of the lovely Ms PA, but the CWB's et al need some morale boosting .... I guess it's what my wife calls the "Jan-Feb's"; cold, dark, post-holiday blues. So, check out this guy, he's got a great head-banging groove - gave me a good smile this morning http://thefw.com/golden-retriever-loves-guitar/ |

Well, I guess I could, but I won't. It's gonna be good to be back to Florida...my home...and get my stuff put away and back to my remodeling.
The pooch video made me smile. Thanks, Ed!

Memorial service is Monday with cremation to follow. Evidently this was his final request based on the video he left behind. | That's really tough to hear BSB. Very sorry to hear that and condolences to the family.

How's it play? And if you do ever make it to Chicago, drop me a note. Chicago is usually do-able for me because my in-laws live there. I make no promises, however, on your survival or sanity if you do meet up with both FM and I together...

FM, take note. I'm fairly certain this is the only time anyone will ever describe us as the "sanity" as opposed to the "madness".
