I'm counting down the days to Reading, as well. It's getting close!

1... | Sorry to hear about your guitar player Tat. Everyone says they are a dime a dozen until you really need to find one you can work with and doesn't flake out on you.

A little bit of a departure for us, but I like the Exile on Main Street feel. (Or am I imagining that?) https://soundcloud.com/#mamasan-band...-back-home-mix

I've decided that instead of CL Musicians, I'm going to advertise in CL personals - W4M - and once I get a cute one that answers, I'm going to hit him with the stun gun and then chain him in the drummer's garage. It'll be harder to quit when he's chained up, I think.

| | Yankee Carpetbagger Plunkin' Roots And Fifths.... | | Join Date: Jan 2012 Location: Central Massachusetts | | | Well, just checking in.
The band was facing implosion after some changes in personnel, and tempers flared about some issues.
As usual, I had to be the voice of reason.
Steel guitar player was let go/quit. Honestly, nice guy, but specialized more in auditory destruction than making music.
Singer quit, stating he could not fulfill the rehearsal schedule, could not pay his share for the practice space, and could not work with the lead guitarist. We offered him our best and wished him well. Actually, he and I are going out to dinner this week.
Lead guitarist turned in his resignation. After talking to him, discovered he was too overwhelmed with the lead guitar role and wanted to play rhythm and sing more. He decided to stay but moved over to rhythm guitar. Actually, he fits well there.
Rhythm guitar player is the BL. He decided to reduce his playing time and concentrate more on the business end of the band. Promoting, organizing set lists, picking music, running the PA, structuring practices.......this is where he will focus now.
I am still thumping away on my bass and singing my songs.
Auditioned new lead players, picked one, he's very, very good.
Auditioned singers, picked one, he's very, very good.
Been alternating between two drummers and that's a whole other problem (going to post about it in band management).
So now, it's the "perfect" setup. Lead, rhythm, bass, drums, and a vocalist.
Shows booked in March.....so time is short. Got an offer to play a local club on the 25th but had to turn it down.
I was asked to play for two more country oriented bands and one other GB cover band. Turned it down as I want to see my current band through until the end.
My head is aching.

Oh, I know. Fortunately myself and the drummer are just regular dudes who aren't into the whole drama of things.
But what a ride.
One of the reasons I stay is the BL. He's like a father to me.

For our part we're starting to come together a bit again. We are playing in a benefit on Feb. 17 for a young girl who has Leukemia. A friend of mine is organizing it (his band is awesome!) and he's offered us a spot. Just a short set as many bands have stepped up and offered to help.
Anyway at least we are back to rehearsing weekly.
