So I'm enrolled in college and every now and again I get a stipend check from my studet loans. Well I got a check from them yesterday for a grand. All my books have been ordered, software bought, tuition payed. So I start getting excited. I finally get to settle some gas I've been having and get that 450 watt rig I've had my eye on and possibly a squier to go with it. Then my fiance' hands me the electric bill.... we're 3 months past due an it' comes up to 900 dollars.... plus late fees. FML

"enrolled in college" + "student loans" + "electric bill...3 months past due" + "fiance" = "doomed marriage","living the rest of your life in debt", "never having new equipment", and don't forget "quitting band to work multiple jobs".
I am speaking from experience here. You might want to rethink your priorities. |

We have a roommate He's inbetween jobs right now though so we've been having to cover his part of the rent, plus picked up another roomate 2 weeks ago so we'll be caught up on the bills soon enough with extra cash consideing it's a 4 person income now.
besides all the bills are in her name so it's her credit score that takes the hit.

As far as the bills being in her name. I moved in with her so they were already set by the time I arrived.

because that is not cool at all. |

If all the bills are in her name, she will control the budget, and then she will not let you spend money on anything you want (as you just found out). |

| | | | i kind of understand the "it's her credit score" deal. i had a roomate that had a bunch of bills in his name & every once in a while i would come home to no lights. which is NOT cool since i play an electric instrument! it's not like i didn't have the money but i wasn't going to pay his way. & he did it all the time & since it was not in my name i didn't care. but i wasn't planning on marrying him.

Besides of course the fact that she will remember the immature loser she was once hooked up with everytime she applies for credit, insurance, jobs, etc..

If you find that your winter-time bill is what is killing your budget, and you lack the maturity to set aside the summer money to pay for winter, then bill leveling can save you by having the same billed amount each month. It spreads the cost out in a predictable way.
