Three old guys, after playing for many years at loud venues, are taking a walk, chatting--
Guitar player: "Man, it's windy."
Drummer: "Naw, it's Thursday."
Bass player; "Me, too. Let's go get a beer."
Sound like anyone you know?:

I hear the screechy capacitor sound from monitors, TV's, etc. etc. very well. You get used to it and tune it out eventually, but I can spot a leaky cap from miles away. Anyway, one day I commented about a high-pitched squeal in the room and it turns out someone was turning a monitor on and off to see if I could tell when it was present (the squeal) and when it wasn't. (I could tell and made note of it.)
So he said in response to that, "Well, at least you haven't destroyed your ultra-high end hearing on gigs."
And I said, "Huh?"
