Decent first show

Hey guys, I played a show tonight with my band to about 5 people that came for us. 35 or so of our friends said they would make it out no matter what happened. The sound was terrible though and the place was a small studio with a stage so it was in the most secluded area.

Anyways, what can I do for next time to make sure more friends come?

you can check out the band at www.myspace.com/themaniceffect

by secluded... do you mean away from the scene/where they have to drive a long way to get home therefore most of them wouldn't be drinking anyway?

get a few of your hot rocker chick friends to spread the word. People show up if they know girls are showing up.

Don't rely on your friends. Treat them like anyone else. If your friends see you brought a party to your show... your friends'll join. That's how it works on the other side of Canada anyway

If you get a huge turnout... keep a device that records video with you. That way, when people're rockin' out... you can get it on film, post it up and show everyone what they're missing

hehe. it's hard to get people to come to shows. especially friends. i think they feel they can come catch a show anytime, so unless it's really convenient they don't bother. Of course, at this point i'm new in town and my bandmates are my closest friends....so all of my friends come to every show.

Yea the place is right by kipling station (the first subway on the west side) so it's easy to get there and back but the actual venue was on a small street so you had to do some walking.

I think it was the venue's fault because they didn't give us any tickets to sell so they people would be less inclined to go and they pushed our set an hour back the day of the show so it could have interfered with people's plans.

I'm going to try to get tickets to sell for the next show at an accessible place and definitely get a video recording of the party.

throw a party, cook some food, and include video games. charge a $5 cover with ladies free before 10p. do one or two sets of your BEST stuff and i think they'll come to your shows just to re-live the "party".

Totally. Make it sound like, "heck yea, issa partay y'all!"
rather than, "come to my show and show your support, please?"
