Decor on amp?

Sign in to disble this ad
Ok so I've noticed a trend that I might follow with. The last few shows I've seen odd things on top of guitar and bass amps, like the leg lamp from A Christmas Story, a huge pink pimp hat, and a 2 foot tall Gumby (yes the claymation character). Is this a trend in your neck of the woods?

I Know Rush has been doing this for years and I think its funny to see it. I might be finding something odd and funny to put on top of my amp just for kicks. What about you guys? Ever done something like this just to get a few laughs?

My guitar amp has some dried egg yolk on it but I don't think you can really count that as decor, it isn't noticeable unless you're right next to it.

Hundreds to thousands of dollars worth of gear always make for the best drink holders and coasters

I usually put a bunch of spare picks on the top of my amp so I can run back and grab one if I need another one. I also found outside a venue one time this Batman action figure and he has been sitting on top of my rig ever since (a couple of years now). Batman happens to be my favorite super hero too...wow score!

Oh yes, spare picks on top is good too! Batman would be cool.

My brothers guitar amp once sported a rather large picture of Mr. Rogers taped to the grill...Why? I have no idea.

I have noticed this a few times. It seems to kind of be a thing with the Indie scene around here. A fellow band that we've split bills with a few times has a framed picture of Billy D. Williams on top of his. I think that rules, but obviously I can't copy him. I need to find something for my rig.

I've seen Victor Wooten with a dancing James Brown doll on top of his amps before.

I have a little Hot Wheels DeLorean that decorates the top of my rig at home, but I've never taken the car with me to a gig. Maybe I should...

A friend of mine's band keeps a thing they call 'bush-mander' on stage with them (usually on the guitar amp). It's a pokemon (charmander) with a George W. Bush Mask on it's head. As to why, I have no idea.

Would be one of the few shows I"d watch.......

I've had a foam meerkat, a foam dragon, and some other misc critters on my amp at times.

My drummer has 2 zebras on his kick drum (or whatever you call it) but he's a very good drummer in spite of being somewhat odd.

My *ss is occasionally set on top of my rig. Once in a while I'll put beverages (ones with sealable lids) on it. I might start putting this little dude playing guitar on it though. He's pretty cool lookin (black dude playing guitar in a tux and some shades)
