All good music has a pulse, whether it makes you do air guitar (or bass ), headbang to it , dance to it or just tap your fingers. |

Don't define what "music" is by "because I like it". the definition I use with my classes (yeah, I am a music teacher) is "Art of sound using the elements of pitch, timbre, duration and dynamics." Yeah, dry... but then we can discuss music objectively without the "I hate {A. country B. rap C. classical D. rock} so it is not music" getting in the way. We can talk about WHY we like or dislike, but because I can't stand something, don't mean it ain't music...
Sorry to get all academic on y'all

What is art?
What is music?
What is beauty?
For each of us the answer is different.
To you I might not be a "very good bass player".
And you might not be to me.
These "definition" threads are maddening at times because we are spinning our wheels trying to define what can't be defined.

I think you'd have better luck with your last thread, "defining a musician", but, potential train wreck I predict. |

Maybe not exactly baited, but a loaded question at best.
