Is it supposed to be funny?
And what is up with your right hand technique? Is that the funny part?

| | | | First off...I'm sure s lot was lost in the recording, it's not s very high quality vid obviously....but
Good energy, looked like you guys were having fun. I like the stage arraingement. I'm not a fan of the vocals, just not my thing. I have no problem with the bass playing, again I enjoyed the energy. Just because someone doesn't play the bass using common tehniques doesn't mean it's not art. Just my opinion.
I don't think it was that bad....just a **** recording.

1. Sinks are used for washing hands or dishes. Great for keeping the house clean.
2. Showers/bathtubs are to clean your body, relax in, and are even good for fooling around in. (Try not to slip)
3. Toilets are where your crap goes. Not here on talkbass. |

But...
Uncommon technique is a far cry from inefficient, sloppy and silly looking technique; and in this case we are seeing a perfect example of the latter.
Now I understand that saying his technique is silly looking is entirely my opinion, but inefficient and sloppy are not debatable. I don't know why he chooses to play that way, but I would certainly suggest trying something else. Given his current approach and the style of music he's playing I would suggest using a pick.
Once again, I'm not bashing uncommon technique. My point is, innovation grows from necessity, and it is entirely unnecessary to play that way. There are no practical benefits to that technique. So I'm lead to believe that it has come about from laziness and misconception rather than being simply uncommon.
And so no one pitches a fit... That's just my opinion.

Even if it helps to keep time, it's not as easy as a light bobbing or foot tapping, but it fits the genre and gets the audience into the show with a display of energy.
That said, it does look pretty goofy. Unless this is a stealth parody of the genre. I like the music, though. It's nothing super, but I enjoyed it.

It's nothing super, but I enjoyed it. | I play metal music as well, and I do understand showmanship and how much it has an impact on the audience, particularly when playing that kind of music. But I also believe that musicianship should come before showmanship. It upsets me to anyone sacrifice their integrity as a musician in favor of an image.

Bring your vocalist's parts to the forefront more, so he doesn't have to awkwardly walk about the stage as much when he's not...vocalizing.
That's my input. |

Someone posts a vid on here and plainly asks if people like it. Some people are honest and say they DON'T.
Then it seems like someone else (many someone elses) feel the need to jump up and say, "Hey! Don't say you don't like it...that's 'FLAMING' (or whatever else)!".
Have we all reached that pathetic state where no one can be critcized. Everyone HAS to be a "winner"; everyone HAS to be "appreciated" and patted on the back? Everyone is "good" and everything is "art"? Everyone is equal?
YUK!
I like having a world with both winners and losers.
-------------------------------
For the record, NO, I didn't like it. Not for any other reason than I simply didn't like that song.
