do you name your bass(es) and call it girls??

Sign in to disble this ad
IDK why it seems that I run into basses that are all girls. Even mine are girls...seemed kinda weird, b/c I am a chick and straight as the fretboard on my basses!!!!!

My basses:
my Spencer P bass: girl named Pinky
my Squier J bass: girl named Cherry
my Ibanez: girl: (Poison) Ivy
I named it Ivy from Poison Ivy b/c of all the trouble I had from her when I got her!

OK so is ya's basses guys or gals and do you name em???
why does it seem that all cars, vehicles and basses are girls?????

Yeah, wll I actually have a girl and a guy. Jewel is a Jewel Blue Ibanez GSR200 (clever, right?) and Blackjack is a Black Fender BG-31 Acoustic-Electric. I hope to get a Precision soon. No idea what to name it though. But that's probably not gonna happen until like December or seometime in '09.

Attractive women are nice to look at, have smooth curves, and make men go crazy, just like basses

OTOH, if I'm in "bass mode," the most attractive women in the world could be running around bare-ass naked right in front of my face and I would be thinking about how much easier it would be to change strings with a Hipshot bridge.

My first bass Ibanez-Hope(Mostly because of what the name implies, meaning there is hope that I might have a talent)
Fender FSR Jazz Bass-Claire(I dont know why, I just like the name a lot)

My basses have 5 strings. They have a deep low voice. They Snarl and Growl. They do not have girly names. I keep them chained up in basement to protect women and children.

I call my main "Cowpoke" since it's a Fender P Special "Cowpoke." Other than that, I've never been big on naming things.

My Squier VMJ fretless is named LaFawnduh, as in LaFawnduh from Napoleon Dynamite.

I call my DB my wife (an uncle of mine started that and it stuck) and my EUB my concubine. No names for the BGs, though.

I call my travel guitar Rosaline, because it gets banged up and I neglect it compared to my Juliet (Expensive Taylor guitar).

I like to call my basses (two G&L L2000's), Frankie and Walter.

Mine are usually referred to as some kind of it. If I need to be specific, it's either Ibanez, or Squire (or POS)

The only one that has a name that could be considered feminine is Blondie, my Marcus Miller jazz.

I named my DB "Keysha". I don't have a name for the pork chop, however.

I have an Allparts P copy I call the Creamsicle, or the Sal-Melon-A bass, because it's either a cross between salmon and melon, or in certain light it looks like an orange pop right from the freezer. I think it was someone's weird idea to color it Fiesta Red and somehow it didn't come out quite right....

I quit naming my basses years ago. I couldn't keep them straight.

I'll refrain from the joke about why basses have to be girls...

Anyway, my three ladies:

Yamaha RBX170 - Stella, because of the glow-in-the-dark star stickers I put over the fretboard inlays

Ibanez EDA900 - Cassandra, because the name evokes images of a supermodel, which that guitar is in terms of looks and tone

Squier VM Fretless - Tracy, since the bass is heavily based on Jaco's and Tracy was often his muse
