I just made it into this band like last week. Today the singer called to tell me that we're rehearsing on saturday and that he needed a place to live. I met the guy once...

I hope he finds a place to live. Craigslist works well. Unless you have an extra room, and really need the rent money.

As far as I can tell, it's time to leave the band.

I had a singer move in with me once. He never did a thing to help pay his share, yet he ate like it was an all you can eat buffet. I tried getting him to find a new place many times and he was completely oblivious to even the most straight forward git-yer@ss-out comments. He finally moved when I packed all my things and started moving in with my new girlfriend. The first thing I packed was all the food, TV's and stereo's. Even then he asked if he could come with me until he met her dog, a pit bull that looked at him like a steak.

Got a dog? Maybe borrow one from a friend.

But yeah, this does not bode well, band-wise.

You don't have to kick him out, if you don't let him in. Consider HOW he got to a place in life that he needs to ask and acquaintance for a place to live. Bad luck, bad breaks, bad decisions, etc. whatever it is, it's all yours if you let him move in.

+100000

Even best friends can have problems living together. Letting someone move in that you barely know is just asking for trouble. You have no idea if he might be a drunk, a drug addict or?

I had a friend I've known most of my life move in with me for a few months and I had no idea he was stealing my prescription medications and snorting them until one day I went to ask him something and opened the door to see him with a straw up his nose over a pile of powder and my medication bottle right next to it. He actually had the nerve to offer me the straw! Needless to say we are no longer friends and I'm glad to be rid of him. I later found out he was stealing stuff from local stores and around the neighborhood. The amount of trouble he could have brought to my front door was more than I need.

Makes me happy I don't have a spare anything at my place, let alone a spare bed. Then I can be honest and say, "Sorry to hear that, but honestly I can't help you out."

Are you charging him rent?

Tell him you want a $2000 deposit. That should give you an idea of who he is.

What if he robs a gas station or rolls his drug dealer for the cash then blames it on you?
