As one who has done a tremendous amount of "vocal tweaking" (and drum replacement), this is not too far off the mark.

I was never good enough to do it on the fly, though.

For the joke , just showing an Auto-tune plugin wouldn't have been as funny :smug:

I think that's what makes it hilarious. I have seen this, many times in real life. There was one time recently that I was doing a fairly high profile gig, and it was requested of me to speak to the soundperson and tell them we needed lots and lots of effects. I was told by the producer to be honest and let the guy know she's not that great, and we're going to need help. I did. He said no problem, and actually did a pretty awesome job. While we were playing however, I noticed him calling people over and letting them listen in his headset. And they were all cracking up laughing. It was a bit unprofessional on their part, but I don't think it was obvious to anyone other than me an the guitarist.

The J-Lo reality.

Hah! I'm friends with some producers and have heard some "spectacular" untreated vocal takes. Always good for the soul!
