Here's a quote from our percussionist (also a drummer) about our current drummer:
"He's suffering from NJaDS--Not Just a Drummer Syndrome. Symptoms include:
claiming extensive music theory knowledge, insisting to sing backup,
stopping a song and telling the guitars they're out of tune. If drummer ever tries to take a guitar "just to show a riff," contact a physician
immediately." |

| | Yeah, I've got the moves like Jagger. | | Join Date: Oct 2006 Location: G.R. MI | | | My drummer suffers from the same syndrome.
An actual quote from my drummer upon being referred to as arrogant by the guitard: "Confidence is often mistaken for arrogance by insecure people." I think he kind of proved the guitard right with that one. |

| | | | Here's one:
"if a drummer plays a steady beat for too long, he will begin to lose timing, so he has to play a fill to get the timing back".
My ex-drummer plays with "feel". That means he plays whatever he "feels" like. |

| | | | Can he sing?
Does he have that knowledge on harmony?
Does he play guitar and is right when saying that the guitarist is out of tune?
If the answers are Yes you are very lucky, as he may be able to push the band forward and inspire the others to stretch also.
If No is the answer I'd say shutr him up and do so quickly as he may hold you back. |

My drummer isn't like that. However he is damn near a better guitarist than drummer so it is no issue when he picks up a guitar. |

"I dont have to be the best, just the favorite."
"I'm an emotional drummer."
"I'm going to be on the cover of Drummer Magazine 2006(/2007/2008)"
"Why did you guys fire me? I can tear that drummer in half!" (we were watching a few clips of Megadeth at the Download festival)
One of my favorites, when I'd ask him to try and do anything slightly technical-
"I don't want to do that, that's booooooring!"
and
"duka duka-duk duka duk duk-duka duka dukduk-duka" (double bass)
"splash....snare splash.. splash.... snare splash" (used in every song) http://a943.ac-images.myspacecdn.com...996998b1d6.jpg

[Shows me Antares intonation processor]
Great. The guitarist and I are both trained vocalists and we do lots of harmony parts which we practice on our own aside from full band rehearsals. So the drummer spends a couple hundred bucks on a pitch processor for the vocals that he now expects us to use.
OK.

I can't discribe the 'shuffle' that my ex-drummer likes to put in almost every song. You should hear some of the wicked fills he puts into Mustang Sally. When I ask if he would play something straight ahead and simple so we can get a groove going, he says "that's booooooring" too.
5 minutes before the drummer arrives, he calls on his cell phone to make sure the driveway is clear so he can pull right in and unload. Never fails. Then, when we're done, everybody either has to wait until he's loaded, or carry their stuff out to the street. |

My drummer studied jazz @ the Univ. of Denver, can make the metronome click "disappear" hundreds of times in a row, plays guitar and bass, too, and is a very good singer to boot.

FURTHERMORE:
upon arrival, proceeds to unload TONS of drums, stands, cymbals of various sizes (in 1/2 inch increments), congas, windchimes, pedals, stools, jeez, YOU NEED ALL THIS CRAP?
he's the last one set up and ready to go .
AND the last broken down and loaded.
heck, you know MY drummer?
