I love him in the context of SP, but Jimmy Chamberlain does that one beat. All the time.

Jeez I'm glad I'm not the only one who realizes Neil peart has been using the same drum pattern for decades now.

I'm glad that we as bassist have learned to appreciate a good drummer. It's such a complicated instrument, people think it's just hitting things hopefully in time, but a good drummer makes it a beautiful artform.

I thought this thread was gonna be about Phill Rudd or John Bonham! Bonzo played the same thing on a lot of Zep tunes, he just sped up or slowed down as required. It was still awesome though... A/C D/C takes it one step further, they
play everything in the same key too. (Well, almost-sometimes they play in A instead of E)

Don't bash Peart, he's an amazing drummer. It's like me bashing Geddy Lee.

If you find yourself a good drummer dedicated to their art, it's amazing to watch. Appreciate them, drumming is more than smashing things randomly.

Please shut up. If a drummer ever said something similar, you'd all have heart attacks. Bonham for us = Geddy for you.

My ex-guitarist and I have decided to try to redo some old stuff and write some fresh stuff, but one catch, his drummer is attached at the hips and he drives me nuts.

1) Comes to my house, calls my bass drum pedal crap and continues to put his there instead (which is equally as crappy)

2) Moves around ALL of my drums (took me two hours to get them to an almost normal position again.

3) Broke my snare head. (But luckily he had another snare in his trunk)

4) Plays the same beat (BD roll into a tom lick while bashing away on the ride)

5) I got so fed up, I disconencted half of his BD pedal so he could free that foot for the hi-hat.

6) We started something funky, he's still playing his crappy Disturbed-esque drumbeats.

7) Threw him outta the house and got some Taco Bell.

My current drummer is a serious Peart-worshipper, to the point that we are adding Rush tunes as we build up our songlists.

He actually patterned his rig after one of Pearts setups. I don't know if it is like what Peart is using now, but Greg got a ten-piece set with about a bazillion cymbals, in the sizes and arrangement he has, because that was what Neil was playing then, except Gregs' set is Pearl.

He also plays REALLY loudly. So loudly that I never forget my earplugs at practice now. And I used to be bad about that.

Next he is selling the ten-piece Pearls on ebay and getting an electronic set from Roland. I wish I had his money. Because he is still planning on having a ten-piece set just Rolands now.

Cool

Hey All,
We have a drummer who is a cross between Niel Peart and Mike Portnoy. He has 14 drums and a gazzillion cymbals. All of us in our band have no complaints at all with him. (I guess we are blessed) He can do any time sig and the best part is he always adjusts how hard he strikes his drums. (no loud drums at practice) He is absolutely amazing to watch. We play alot of Dream Theater and Rush.
