Now, that guy knows the meaning of the word "hospitality!"

In fact, there's another thread about this in the Band Management forum called "How not to handle band/bar owner conflict (YTC)."

I got to a bit before the 3:00 mark. I lost interest when he hit the rapid-fire F-bombs.

working at a small music venue myself I feel for the guy... a little bit. It's already frustrating enough when you book a band that turns out to be THAT terrible, let alone having them complaining about a few bucks. OTOH, it's always the best policy to simply continue being a professional, even when the people you are working with clearly are NOT.

Based on the summary and comments on the youtube page from the person in the band who put the video up, it seems clear that they are painfully unaware of their lack of musical ability, so this is probably a case of a band over selling themselves to the venue and then the owner regretting the decision to take them on their word. Of course that's completely baseless conjecture on my part, but something just doesn't smell right to me with this whole thing.

Bar owner's fault for booking a band that he didn't research. Not the worst band I've heard, but clearly they need more practice... that is... if the first part of the video is an accurate representation of their entire set.

Next, Bar owner's fault for being a complete douche. He had no right to be that inconsiderate on stage and in front of the bar. Those issues should have been handled off stage and in private. As the owner, it's his responsibility to ensure the atmosphere of the bar is on good vibes and peaceful. Money issues and disagreements are something the customers don't care about. They're there to have a good time.

Singer's fault for arguing with him in front of the bar as well. If he wants to be a total tool, then she should have saved grace and quitely left as quick as possible. Again, her continuing to attempt to save face only added to the problem. She also should have known to take her disagreement off stage and privately to the owners. Preferably another time when they are together and sober. An old saying that is relevant here; "don't argue with a fool, onlookers can't tell the difference."

Lastly, singer's fault again for failing to uphold her end of the bargain. If she promised a crowd and didn't deliver, she can expect an upset owner. This by no means gave him the right to be such a dick, but her not upholding her end of the bargain didn't help matters.

I have, as most here on TB, have played venues where the owner has stiffed the band. I have heard the argument that "you didn't bring in any customers". Typically our response to that was "give us a later slot. No body goes out at 8pm to listen to live music. Everyone knows bars don't start hopping till about 10pm". However, we always left on good terms with the owners and were always invited back. Once the owner got to know us, we were able to get later slots and thus more people. It has always been my priority in music to play for fun, and everything else is a bonus. We usually played for free if we didn't pull a crowd and chocked it up as good experience and good PR with club owners. My band played for 6 years and that practice payed off for us in the long run. Thankfully we all had decent day jobs to pay the bills and didn't live in a fantasy world of relying on bar gigs for income.

Yup. Hat backwards and all. I'd lay his ass out. Damn... Watching even more. I'd have had a hard time not stomping his face.

There are just too many things wrong with that whole series of events. The music, the attitudes, the language...

"It doesnt matter what your name is!!!!"

This line really made me laugh... as welll as puposely spilling beer out of his mouth... while yelling... too much.

Was this really over a few bucks? Seriously?

If I was on stage I prob would have thrown his beer in his face, provoked him to attack (all on camera) and then pressed charges and have him arrested.

Then I would bang his girlfriend/wife/hooker whatever

I'm guessing a lawyer may have had something to do with it.
