Flag this clown. Sent a friendly text to the guy trying to let him know the bass isn't a '72, and he tells me that he bought it new in '72 - a purely dishonest, straight up and down lie. Not only that, then he called me a jackass. His stringing skills rival his integrity, to boot.

Bye bye.

Fender Precision Bass Guitar 1972 collector item

The ad's been edited...it's now showing the bass to be an '82 which, assuming that I'm reading the serial number correctly (E3 26709), still isn't correct. That number should put it as an '85. At least he's got the right decade this time.

This manged to alienate every bass player in the region and had several people post responses wanting to tear off a piece of his rear end. Good thing there will be no egos in his band....

Simply put I am the best frontman of any band within 100 miles of Youngstown, all I need is a simple bassman to play the way I tell you to play. Its that simple. I have bookings though March with an average of $250 per person. No egos please as nobody but me has any say in what direction the bands goes. Songs, gigs, practice and anything else is MY call!!!

Just cause you play bass don't think I will look down on you, its true that bass is by far the most simple instrument to play but shouldn't be disrespected just cause a 10 yr old could do it.

Reply with 10 reasons why I should consider giving you an auditon!! "

I saw this too, here's a follow up:

Well first thing is I want to thank all of you that audition for me last week, but after thinking it through no one was good enough. This can't be that hard to find a bass player, we are talking about playing mostly quarter notes on a simple 4 string instrument. If you can count to 4 and tap your foot to a drum beat its basically that simple. This is a great opportunity for someone to ride my talent and enjoy the ride. If need be I am willing to teach you how to play bass the way I need it played.

One thing they all told me is I am in fact that GOOD!! It may sound cocky but you need that to go places that I am going. For anyone not wanting to waste their time playing in some shithole bar, please try out. I have private and corporate gigs that pay over 2-3 thousand. Plus a New Years eve gig over $5000, Yes I have that kind of contacts, once you see me perfom you'll understand..
Frankly I have a hard time believing this is even legit...who the heck would audition?

@28 I guess Im an old creeper.

http://nh.craigslist.org/muc/3424017454.html

so you play a little bass, and you're interested in joining the greatest band in the universe ever? congrats! this is your golden opportunity.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR: an enthusiastic young musician with a head full of ideas (ADHD completely welcome). skill is not needed so much, nor is "fancy" equipment. if you can play as loud as an acoustic drum set for jamming, you're all set. what we DON'T want is a douchy negative-nancy to ruin all the fun in music making. we do this for fun, and we want to keep it fun. we are not currently playing any shows, but if it's your desire, we're more than willing to start booking. WE JUST NEED YOU IN THIS BAND FIRST!

i know you're wondering all about this mythical band, and you want to hear more about it, so here you go:
the band name is Kind of a Big Deal. This is not just a name, it is a statement; because we are in fact, kind of a big deal. girls wanna get with us, and other bands want to be us. but don't worry folks, there's enough of us to go around.
we play metal/hardcore with a large amount of influences. we don't keep the sound stale, and we'll jam out anything that resembles an idea.
some influences are:
August Burns Red
Dr. Acula
Attila
King Conquer (minus the awesome blast beats)
The Devil Wears Prada
we also from time to time like to **** around and play some "classic" metal, rap beats, classic punk and hardcore. also, CREEEEAAADDDUHA (creed)

we have been playing together since august 2010, and we work well together. right now there is drums, guitar, and vocals. just us three. we enjoy JAMMING. yes, the kind of jamming where you have no idea what you're about to play, and you play what ever the **** shoots out of your fingers. surprisingly, this jamming sounds better than the songs we write. we've been known to wing songs on stage, and people tend to give positive feedback.
WE HAVE RECORDING EQUIPMENT!!!!! we just invested in some home recording equipment, and we're eager to record some good ****! we're just waiting on you, the bass player. we have a few songs, and we're totally willing to change them around if you have any good suggestions. we're all about playing fluid, and we're not afraid to evolve our older sounds into new and improved masterpieces.

PERSONAL INFO: our ages range from 18 to 22, so no old ass creepers please. i respect your enthusiasm, but we have a badass image to uphold. We jam about once a week in Manchester, NH. jamming usually happens on a Friday, or Sunday, but it's pretty flexible, as our drummer and guitarist currently live within about five minutes walking distance. please shoot a text/call Michael at 603-XXX-XXX. if i can't pick up, LEAVE A DAMN MESSAGE! do not email me here. if you need to email me, send me a message, and i will share my email. i promise i'll respond, but i might not be able to right away. please do not hesitate to contact us, even if it's just to say hi. if you're interested and/or want to share files (mp3s only please, no n00ds), then come at me bro! thanks.

ROFL! At 61 you could say I'm an old creeper! I think even when I was 19 or 20 I'd run the other way from these guys.

Oh yeah those guys sound like pos...No talent/equipment/maturity, all attitude...

also
http://nh.craigslist.org/muc/3452435412.html

Evanescence Tribute band is looking for a guitarist, bassist, or supporting keyboardist who can sing back up. We have one guitarist, a vocalist, and a drummer working together already. We could use EITHER a supporting keyboardist or guitarist that can sing, but REALLY need a bassist who can sing. Please, don't respond unless you are interested in playing out and leaving any drama at home. There aren't any Evanescence tribute bands up here in the Northeast, which is a HUGE reason why you should be interested!

I think theres a reason for that

I ran into a few of these back in LA. I had no issue with the attitude they had - they just wanted a side man to play what they hear in their heads. I responded to a couple before I figured out how to sort the BS' ers - just ask them what the schedule and plan was, and when the first gigs would be, and what level. I'd tell them that I am a pro, and I expect a contract, and decent money. I wish I had recorded the responses, some of them were pretty funny in their bluster - blowhards with no talent.

I posted an ad on CL looking for some extra "odd job" type of work for some extra holiday season $$.
Someone responded saying that they were "interested in (my) services".
I googled the e-mail address (something I advise) and saw multiple ads from this person on CL personals looking for people with "pretty feet"!
Yeah...I didn't call back. my feet aren't pretty, but even then...no.

Apparently people don't know the difference between a SUB & a stingray.

http://nh.craigslist.org/msg/3472050511.html

Music Man Stingray SUB 5 String, USA Made - $550

Music Man Stingray SUB 5, made in San Luis Obispo CA factory, excellent condition. Textured graphite finish, 9-volt active EQ with bass / treble boost and cut controls. Classic Stingray tone and feel, great playability and recently set up and intonated. If you like powerful, driving rock or metal tones, or a great punchy slap sound, this bass has it covered. And the neck feels great, too. Hate to sell, but I don't play it as much as my Jazz bass and I need to clear out some of my gear stockpile. This bass does NOT have a case. If interested, all questions will be answered except for lowball offers. Additional pics availble on request. Please respond with "Stingray" in subject line to filter spammers. Thanks for looking!
