so today i had one of the singular experiences of my life. i was invited with my band, the Joshua James Brothers, to play at Sun Studios in Memphis. we were first led on a tour of the studio and shown some of the early recording consoles and such, as well as Elvis' Guitar and high school diploma. We were then taken into the studio and allowed to set up and play ten or eleven songs. all of this was recorded, both on video and audio as part of the Sun Studio Sessions. i was humbled and awed by the ghosts in that room, the whole time that i played i was staring at a card signed by Elvis, Luther Perkins, Carl Perkins, Roy Orbison, John Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis to the secretary of the studio. it seems that playing at this studio is now by invitation only and a true honor to any fan of rock and roll such as myself. i think the only thing that could compare would be getting a chance to play at the hitsville building in detroit.

here are some pics of me, the band and my duck dunn (who also recorded there)

I toured the place when we were in Memphis for the International Blues Challenge in Feb 2007. Man, the people who have recorded there: Howlin' Wolf, Roscoe Gordon, Elvis, Roy, Jerry Lee. You could feel the energy in the air in the studio.
