Serious lulz.

My drummer always smells weird and hasn't washed the sweaty shirt that he wears every practice (and then leaves at my house on the drum throne).

I was late once on account of one of those classic car "cruise" things. All the streets around the venue were cordoned off. Just trying to figure out how I could get the #&@% thru the stupid thing, I wound up "cruising" a few blocks in my '82 Subaru with people pointing at me & laughing. Man, was I pissed.

Kind of had it out for cruises, ever since.

I haven't been late to a show, but yes to both classes and trying to get to bed on time. Like tonight, when I was trying to be in bed an hour ago

Me too. Rather be an hour early than a min late.... BUT.......
a Wedding we were going to do once a few yrs ago- out in the country- about an hour & 1/2's drive from my town- out to a country town- or village- one pub, general store & a few farms type of town..... then we hadda head south from there about 20 mins to a VERY rich family's estate- in wine-growing area. On way there( My wife's one of our lead vocalists, so we had bass gear & small PA{15+horn JBL's, Dynacord 10 ch. pwrd desk, cuppla monitors, leads stands etc..), we were driving in my(then) '89 Ford wagon PACKED -PACKED!!!!!!!Oh & as we knew the family & they virtually insisted, we took our two Border Collie dogs-who were then about 3y.o.
On way there I got a flat tyre.... did I mention the wagon was PACKED ;-) so had to take a few heaqvier items out B4 jacking her up & changing the tyre!! Now I'm the type of guy that likes to PREPARE!! But did I bring a torch????? NUP!!! Mobile phone provided the light on this moon-less night to change the tyre. Luckily I had a "country-type" coverage plan on my phone- My Wife's ph had NO coverage, mine JUST got thru to the band members already at the Wedding... "STALL" !!!!!
Anyway- we got there with a few mins spare & set UP FAST & gig went SUPERBLY!!
The hosts were great too, lugging out a good ol' farm-heavy duty generator to run a pump- as the tyre I'd put on wasn't inflated fully & under load it SHOWED!!!
So we got the tyre up OK, then 1/3 of the way back home- 2.30am- going down a hill on main h'way- "BANG" -blowout!!!! Luckily I brought the loaded wagon under control, & pulled over safely! No EZ task- as we were going about 100KM/H down hill- but luckily again - it WAS a rear tyre. BUT this meant 2 flats!!!! NO more SPARES!!! So we had to call a tow truck- took an hour & 1/2 to get to us, He was COOL & wasn't perturbed about having a car FULL to the brim of PA's, Bass Bins & DOGS!! So My wife & I rode in the cab w/ the truck driver, & the Dogs & gear all were up on the back of the tilt tray!!
We got back to town & home at 4.30 am & amidst much racket, the wagon came down off the truck & was sat on the sidewalk. So a cuppla Hundred $$ for the tow, & a Cuppla Hundred $$ for the 2 Tyres- meant NO pay that nite & thankfully the band chipped in to cover the expenses.
So- not QUITE O.T. but were a li'l late for the gig, but were extremely late for the return.

Late?

Nope. Never. I was a week early to a gig once, though. Standing gig was the last Friday of each month. We showed up on the 4th Friday of a month that had 5 Fridays. DOH! Luckily, it was only about 5 miles from home. Still had to load and unload an extra time for nothing.

Yep, he WAS a neat freak, even washed his sneakers to keep 'em sparkling white...that is until he got married.
It was the wife that insisted that he finish up the laundry before going out to the (PAYING) gig.

No way I'm buying that. A drummer with clean clothes AND a job.

My friend has a drummer that has been wearing the same outfit (his one and only ratty Hawian shirt and a straw hat) to every gig for the last 6 months or so. All he needs is a volleyball to complete his castaway look.

Nah, he was a great guy, had perfect time, loved to practice, could play some pretty involved stuff, he really had his stuff together.

Not so much now that he's married, but still a lot beter than most.
He was almost always late for everything for a wide variety of reasons, he's been known for this all his life apparently.

That would be his one major fault.

Also, I ended up marrying his sister, who I met at one of our gigs years ago.
Been with her for 15 years now.

Never been late. But I did completely forget about a gig once. Band couldn't reach me, did the gig bass-less. That took awhile to live down.

Only once

The band all decided it would be a good idea to get to the gig before me as I had to work late that night. I warned them it would be best if we travelled together but...... So what happens the bass player breaks down and has all the P.A. gear with him. Arrived with about 15 minutes to spare neadless to say it was the quickest set up we ever did, even the singer helped to hump the gear in, well wonders never cease.
