ever got a mic instead of a cable!?

Sign in to disble this ad
the sound crew guys fixed up a mic on a stand in front of my friend's BASS (there was no backline or amp) while was setting up, so he asked for a DI and cables but they didnt respond. so this dude plays the whole gig standing in front of the mic with an unplugged electric bass and a massive grin, i bet he had a blast
now that tops of the strangest and funniest stuff at gigs i have heard of!
sorry i cant find no pictures

This is EXACTLY why you should take a POD or cheap D.I. box with you to EVERY gig...even if it sounds crap, at least there IS sound

Wish I'd seen it actually, just for kicks

Don't be silly - if you put the mic in front of a POD or DI, it's still not gonna make any sound.....

That's as bad as giving a drummer a mic to sing!

Actually, good point - maybe I should've said "This is EXACTLY why you should unplug the mic and plug the lead into a self-supplied D.I. box..."

- it makes you wonder, though - if the sound guy was that brite in the 1st place, would he even know what to do with an actual signal from the bass? I mean, those sound boards have like THOUSANDS of buttons and sliders....

Good point...well the way I'd see it is - if he screws up the sound, go tell him what to do afterwards (or maybe tell him where to go after the mic incident...)

Next time a guitarist insists on being mic-ed up, you know what to do!
