Ever replaced a non-bassist?

I auditioned for a metal band Saturday and nailed it. Since I can also play DB today they fired their keyboardist who was one of the founding members... they figure if I play arco then they don't need keyboards. They've been looking to replace him with violin or flute anyway.

At this rate in two weeks I'll replace everybody else in the band and in three years I shall rule the world!

So are you goin to be able to amplify your double bass 2 metal band volumes without constant feedback?

Hmm, I am realy tempted to try upright with my metal band, but I have to buy one (I can play one though), and I'll have to down tune it, so I guess I'll just drop it...

I figured a few bass brothers who were replaced by a keyboardist's left hand would be happy to hear it sometimes works the other way, too.

Sure, they're not very loud. We tried it and it was easy to be audible.

Folkmetal, though they don't actually play any folk songs.

FWIW I tune in fifths (CGDA) and the guitarists tune down a full step. That works out conveniently.

If you replace everyone, isn't that a solo bass act?

A solo bass act playing "folkmetal" on a DB. Let me know where you'll be playing - I gotta see this one!

Haha

"Solo Folk Metal Bass"

That would be almost like Stanley Clarke's "flamenco" style, but with more jumping around and headbanging...hope you're in shape!

Replacing everybody else and ruling the world might look roughly like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OK_AgQ5hkVc

And if they fire me I'm still playing in three other bands.
