I went to a Venue today to pay my deposite, after having the venue booked for 2-4 weeks and turns out they double booked the Friday night.
The best part being, the other party, is a lass who works at the bar, so therefore i've had to reschedule the bands for the Saturday, I've lost some punters who were wanting to go, it's a complete and utter Cluster F***.
Though I've managed to get one band to get back to me and reschedule, I'm going to have to talk to the other two and beg on hands and knees basically so I don't end up looking like a tool, as this is the first proper gig I've organised fully on my own, and I'd already hired out PA gear for the Friday, I'm so glad i hired from my College so i have it the entire weekend, but still it's not the point of the matter, I'm never using that venue again luckily i only need 17 people without paying the bands to make £1 profit woo, with paying the bands £5 per member it needs to be 34 people, but it's just stressful.
I don't know how people deal with venues like these. and I also appologise for and grammatical, Spelling or whatever errors, I'm Dyspraxic.

Sucks every time.
Good luck.

That sure sucks, but don't let it discourage You from pursuing your dream.
Like said previously, it might have been Your first double booking experience, but it sure wasn't the last.

Just sayin'... |

Just sayin'... | Was there an agreed on time when the deposit was supposed to be paid? There should be date on a contract (never do business without a written contract) that says when the deposit is due and it's considered "on hold" until the deposit is paid or defaulted on. |

The venue we're playing at this Saturday "lost our contact number" and booked an opening band. Thing is, he likes to start things late, end early, and there's no room for staged load-in/load-out. The band is "friends (of his) from out of town".
We've said "no thanks, we don't need or want an opener, you're welcome to have them play the night, or to have us play the night". But to go down, set up a bunch of PA gear for them, wait around to play, have *our crowd* waiting around - don't need it.
Not surprisingly, he's been slow to get back to us - the later he tells us, the less time we have to tell our folks that the show is cancelled.
But yeah... stuff happens.

There is a local club around here who constantly books 2-3 different bands through seperate agents for weekend shows, and then a few days before, he decides which band he wants and tells the others "Sorry, we accidentally double-booked". Our agent won't deal with this dum-arse any more. We won't either - and the bands who keep letting him get away with this baloney are not helping. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
