ex girlfriend attacks drummer in the middle of set

Sign in to disble this ad
This happened about three weeks ago. My four piece was playing a 40th birthday, to a crowd of about 150 in a restraunt. The place was still open for walk-in trade. I just need to say this, none of the boys are spring chickens (we are all 45-50) only the guitarist is married.
Our drummer and band leader broke up with his "girl" friend of 4years, 3 weeks prior to the night in question. At about 11pm in the middle of Locomotive Breath, I see the Ex-GF come blasting through the door and charge right for me, but looking through me at the drummer who is behind me. I can tell from the look on her face and red mist eyes, that getting passed my 6'4" 195lb frame has not even registered as an issue. Oh yeah, this woman must be 220lb+(drummer likes em padded). The stage is a minute piece of floor in a corner so the drummer is barracaded behind all the kit and the rest of the band. all of the following takes place in a couple of seconds. I take the first charge hit with one leg curled up and kind of soft kick her back, she then decides to go through the singer, who is female and muuuuuuch smaller. She successfully repells the second hit (but has the bruises to show for it). Finaly she goes for the guitarist, who is a big boy and he "helps" her back with a firm tap from the back edge of his Les Paul. His favorite method of crowd control, there are teeth marks in the back of his gold top from a biker gig years back. At this point two off duty cops in the crowd restrain her, drag her out, and threaten to arrest her for assault.
Through all this the band never lost a beat, the party goers on the dance floor didnt notice a thing. Now that is pro outfit.
See, in rock and roll, you are never to old for drama. There is a video of the whole thing from somone in the crowd, but the drummer wont let me have it. spoil sport. If i can convince him to let me post it i will.

I am really trying, the drummer is terrified that his "domestic" will end up on youtube. Which thinking about it, is a pretty much a certainty.

Haha. That's great. Suggest doing a cover of Miranda Lambert's "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend" at your next gig, see if your drummer likes the idea!

It's pretty much a certainty whether you get ahold of it or not!

So basically, that night, everyone in the band hit it except the drummer....

...no wonder he broke it off....

Yep, a true pro outfit for sure. "Stand by to repel boarders" and the song just goes on to the rhythm of the smackdown. Love it.

By the way, I almost feel sorry for the psycho chick getting nailed with the Les Paul. Those things ain't light, especially the older models.

All you needed was her returning with some sort of weapon and the story would have been complete.
