A few abject failures:

Our drummer had just built a snake using a recycled piece of 26-pair unshielded telephone cable. The first time we tried to use it we were set up in a public square in Kleve, Germany with a huge radio tower on a hill behind us. We soon discovered that it made a terrific antenna ...

Another time we decided to try out some small pyrotechnic devices in our small local military club. This was not a wise decision. It was so loud it scared the hell out of everyone and filled the place up with smoke. Luckily it was a small, isolated tight-knit military community and we didn't get hammered for it ...

The homemade, dry ice smoke machine didn't really work all that well either but that was more embarrassing than catastrophic ...
