Fanned vs. unfanned

Had a discussion with a bandmate about how fanned frets look likes there's something wrong with the pic of the istrument. It culminated with this image:

I don't think the "jazz bass with fanned frets" is actually that. More like a distorted picture of a standard jazz bass to make it seem like it has fanned frets if you're blind.

I could be wrong...

I prefer fanned frets. I find the extra airflow keeps my sweaty hands dry.

Dingwall makes the 'super j' jazz bass with fanned frets, but that picture isn't a super J...

Actually, I think it is a Super J. The top one.
Looks like they used the same distortion effect on both basses. The Dingwall looks parallel and the Fender looks fanned.
Someone has too much time on their hands.

The top one is a Super J based on the scalloped headstock and bridge.
