Water and beer, not necessarily in that order. I make sure I'm well hydrated before the gig regardless though.

I think if it's hot...water is great, but cold I pass on liquids because of a freakishly small bladder.

I've been on a big Vitamin Water kick for a while. I'll usually have one of those before the show. If I'm dragging, I'll pour one of those 5 Hour Energy bottles in. That way I ingest it slower, and there is less of a niacin flush, just a bit more get up and go.

I never drink alcohol before shows. I will drink after the show. Im accident prone and alcohol makes it even more likely that I will break something or fall off the stage. Back when I played in a punk band I was plastered for the show and ended up getting too close to the edge of the stage and falling on the cement floor and snapping the neck from the body of my bass. Luckily I brought my squire p bass to that show. Before the show I usualy drink vitamin water. At practices I might have one beer but thats usualy it.

I stop a Starbucks and get a venti white chocolate mocha with 2 extra shots of espresso. That's enough caffeine to keep me on my toes for a good 4 hours.
