Finally found musical happiness

For the first time in 4 and half years I finally got to jam with a drummer and a guitarist the past two days. A friend of mine from back home in Atlanta, is a drummer and came to visit me this week, and since I've moved down here I met a guitarist locally that I jam with. So we all got together and jammed for about 7-8 hours over the past two days and it was amazing. I've never had so much fun playing bass. It was great, and can't wait to do it again. Just wanted to share

Good for you bro! I love just a plain jam.. Playing the same songs over and over at rehearsal get get to you, but a jam is always fun!

I know the feeling, man--one of my closest friends was "my" drummer (as in, we'd been jamming since we'd just hit the double digits, and known each other for as long as either of us can remember), just moved across the country. Its a real bummer, but the beauty of music is that chemistry can pop up anywhere as long as you put yourself out there.

Yea I've been friends with him for about 7 years now,and we had played together since i started playing bass, and I helped him get into guitar as well. So both musically and friendship wise were pretty close.

Sometimes there are moments of brilliance that are lost forever in a jam session. I mean ideas for two or three songs come and go because you forgot to tape record. That's why I always have a small cassette handy, even if it means taping over a lesson or something good. Feels great to be on the same page huh! If you surround yourself with lesser musicians you will stagnate. Good luck!

My friend has been playing drums for about 9 years, and the guitarist for about 8 or more. I learn alot more from my guitarist,in learning chords and progressions. Its honestly what I've been needing to progress and grow for the past 2 years.
