First gig ever tonight

Quick back story:

A few years ago I quit drinking. Good thing too, because it probably would have killed me. I bought a bass to keep me out of the bars plus I always wanted to learn. Been playing about 4+- years just learning stuff I always liked and playing as a sort of serious hobby.
Then I started doing sound and road crew work for some local bands in the area and told myself in 5 years or less I will be the one on stage playing.

Fast forward to now(ish).

A few weeks ago my buddy asked me if I wanted to learn some of their songs and maybe play one or two gigs a month or so. I said sure figuring I would have plenty of time to learn their stuff.
Wrong. He called me back a few minutes later and said we have a gig next weekend (tonight). So much for having plenty of time.
I was a mess (inside) before the show but after the first song it was just like practice. We were the opening band and played for about an hour and it was GREAT! A few minor f-ups here and there but no major trainwrecks (besides each of the guitarists breaking strings within 30 seconds of each other). I can't wait to do it again.

I'm still so jacked up I don't think I will sleep for a while. What a blast

F'n Awesome Bro! Be careful if you're playin' in bars but it sounds like you know that already. I've always felt that performing feels just like practice in a different location....glad to know I'm not the only one!
