And we've only had 1 rehearsal.... Discuss

We actually all have similar experience levels and similar set lists. I took about 4 years off from gigging regularly to only playing a couple shows a year except church. It'll be nice to start up again. I missed gigging but medical issues made it too much work for a while.

Gonna be fun.

I'll tell you what my dad told me when I first went off to college: If you screw this up, I'll disown you.

Good luck!

done this too many times to count (fairly big show with 1-2 rehearsals squeezed in). never enjoyed it. it was always other folks assuming that it would just go well. it never did, at least not for me.

but then i'm the one who frets over everything, while everyone in the band says "it sounded fine, you worry too much." but if it sounded fine, we'd have more shows, you know?

Good luck man, fortunately God made you a bassist and gave you the ability to improv if necessary.

I hear you all and can definitly relate because I've played plenty of pick-up gigs. This one just feels different and is to some extent because it's going to be a band that continues on instead of just a one-off type gig. It's a small venue so, that might help.

"Lets see, we have 45 minutes left and no more material"

"Bass Solo!!!"

ummmm no

Well, the gig went fine. We had plenty of time prior to the gig to set up, sound-check and then still had a couple hours to burn. We could have gone somewhere and done another quick rehearsal but I felt it would be better to just visit and discuss general thoughts about gigging. We did go over a couple songs but not many.

The gig itself went very well. We did make some mistakes such as outros/endings. We covered well but some of the endings were stretched out while I motioned to the drummer to watch me for the stop. That is a common problem when folks have similar tunes in their arsenal because everyone has their own little twists.

Overall, it was a good start!

I'll try to see if any of the pics are good.
