I've tended to have vivid dreams ever since I can remember. I even dream in color.
Of course I have all the typical "embarrassment" dreams: me showing up at my old high-school naked, or at my job, etc. Dreams of a bizarre nature abound in my repertoire.
But last night was a first. I had...AN EMBARRASSING BASS-PLAYING DREAM!
I dreamed that I took the advice of someone here, and put on a certain kind of bass string. I don't remember the details, just that they were wrapped in some kind of orangey silk thread, sort of like you might find on old wiring, but more flimsy.
I suddenly seemed to be playing onstage in a band of some kind, with these new strings. Suddenly, I realized the "wrapping" was coming undone on my bass strings. Globs of the fabric material were getting stuck all up under the strings as I played, and I kept having to top and try to free the strings up so they could continue to sound.
Finally, someone ran up alongside, said "keep playing!" and began to slice away the coating from my strings with a pocket-knife. Unfortunately he kept knicking my fingers as he did so, so that they began to bleed. Then I seemed to be experiencing an electric shock as a result of the blood everywhere, presumably from the bass.
That's all I remember.
Fortunately, my dreams have never been prophetic, otherwise I might be tempted to stay away from performing for awhile.

I remember running towards the stage but I woke up. and I was still angry. I hate dreams that make me angry at complete facets of my imagination. You never joke to your friends that their parents just died or that you'd like to sleep with their spouse; my inner consciousness shouldn't try to convince me my bass is destroyed.

I've had dreams where I'm angry, or sad, or "in love," etc., and had to deal with the feeling for several days before it fades.
You're right: "Bad subconscious! No biscuit!"

I play Precisions.

Went in to work today, and the front desk clerk told me she'd dreamed that she'd gone to a concert and I was playing bass with one of the groups that came on stage...Heck, that's more than I have ever dreamed, *sigh* So, does it count for this thread if someone ELSE dreamed about me playing bass?

- it's painful to rid yourself of something
- this "something" is interfering with your life
- so it must be done.
- electric shock means energy flowing in a new direction. OR energy being liberated, so much so that it's a "shock".

But "disturbingly vivid" would be a great band name!

Let it feedback, then squirt lighter fluid all over it and set it on fire.
Then you could have just walked off stage as if you were stoned and become a RnR Legend.
