I know these threads get created alot, but last night was a blast. This was my second time playing in front of people, and I had alot of fun.

Some things I took from this site and applied:

Relax
Smile(this was key, think it went in hand with relaxing).
Keep playing, even if you mess up.

We seemed to have gotten a good reception from people, and being new to this it was quite an ego boost. Felt like it justified the hours of practicing I have been doing.

So, thanks again TB forums. This site has been very helpful!

Very cool, congrats!

In my lesson on Tuesday my instructor informed me that after my lesson next week we're going to an open blues jam. I sang and played some guitar in a band in college but this is the first time on stage in over 25 years and the only time I've gone to an open jam and the first time I'm playing bass. I'm pretty nervous, but I'm also getting pretty pumped for it. Hope it goes as well as it did for you!

Keep it up!

Yeah, I suck, I know that. But at least I suck a little less than I did yesterday.

Go with the objectives of having fun, networking with other musicians, and learning as much as you can. If it's at all typical, there will be players there that will blow you away, and others that have no discernable talent at all.
