So some old friends/bandmates of mine and I got together to go to a Jimmy Buffett show the other weekend, and came up with a new drink. It has to be the rarest of occasions if I ever touch alcohol (such as Buffett ) and this happened to be one of them.
A couple of these friends are TB visitors, and we got to talking about the old quintar posts, in which I remembered this incident: The Qintar was on AIM.
Anyhoo... Right before the Buffett show was about start, all we had left in terms of beverages was a bottle of Cruzan raspberry rum, a third of a bottle of Black Label rum, and a 2 liter of Pepsi with lime from a gas station. Mix them up in tolerable proportions and -
Voila! The Flaming Meev!
Named for the above link to the royally flamed TB member Meev.
Enjoy peoples (it tastes an awful lot like one of those Tiger's Blood snowcones)

Or why Meev got flamed so badly for getting all excited about him/it.
Is it maybe just best to accept it as part of TB folklore, and not ask? |

The meev situation can be summed up like this. Even though I dont post alot, and Ive switched names, i browse this board alot and have so for 5 years or so. The quintar was whatever, thats actually irrelevant. Meev reminded me of that kid when your in junior high that suddenly wants to hang out with the musicians, so the next day his mom goes out and gets him a brand new les paul and a marshall stack. Meev really wanted to be "IN" on the joke. The joke had happened long before he was a member. |

| | | | Can you really get alcohol in Utah? I thought they even took the alco pops off of the shelves. Seriously I have to try it. It sounds different but could be good.
Buffet was here? Where? I would have gone to see him. I didn't hear any advertisements for him. |

Unfortunately too much of that will make you a target.

And the drink sounds delish, btw. Like a tropical rum and coke. |

It's true that Utah's alcohol laws are absurd, but at the same time all the laws have an upside - the state liquor store. It's the only place to get anything other than beer in the state. However, since all the liquor stores are state-run and the state is not that involved, the prices on alcohol are some of the lowest in the country (besides beer). We actually went to Buffett in LA, but bought all the liquor here because it's so friggin' cheap.
Sadly, the only places you can catch Buffett west of the Mississippi anymore are LA, San Diego, Phoenix, and every Halloween in Vegas.

I did some research about the Qintar a few months back, dug up his old threads etc. I discovered everything I needed to know about him, but I'm not gonna try and push my way into that section of TB, because
a) I'm not part of the 'old guard'
b) I didn't actually think any of the Qintar's posts were funny. I think you had to be there.
However, Carrots are something completely different, and I would have no qualms about using them in a poll. I think you just have to be careful about which bits you pick up and run with. It's a bit like a teenager trying to hang out with the war vets and make out like he's one of them.
