Yep, really. 2 weeks ago I was at practice, looked in my case and saw a screw sat there that I didn't recognise, I though no more about it as screws fall in and out of my cases on a regular basis, left it in the pocket until I could think where it came from.
This evening, sat down to put some lovely shiny new flats in my P-bass, and as I unwound the G, out flew the gear. Figured out where that screw came from now, took me a while to put 2 and 2 together there though. I've played the thing every night since I spotted that screw, no problems. Took a screwdriver to the gears on the other tuners, and sure enough, all quite loose.
Moral of the tale, tighten your gears kids. |

When I'm not gigging, every 2 - 3 months.

Seeing as I play hard and use a steel pick, there's actually chunks taken out of the strings after a show. You can see 'em.

my P-Bass and Chrome flats = thumpin' goodness .
they'll be good for many practices , many gigs . ...and yeah , do a little maintenance on your instrument every once in a while . it's not a good sign for screws to fall off your bass ...
