So, last night's show was at this place we frequent, the promotion company has way too much F.O.H. for the space (2x 212 2000watt jbl mains and THREE pairs of subs in maybe 300 sq feet) so I always make sure to run my bass F.O.H. for the extreme in bass defeaning.
However, yesterday's show was a festival format, and they were running behind schedule. Basically, we had about 5 minutes to set up and no sound check.
I set my rig up and grabbed an XLR for my D.I., put it down for a second to tune my bass, and then... We're playing our first song.
We get through our set (they cut us off right before we could play our "hit"

) and i'm breaking down when i notice that i didn't plug in my D.I., which explained alot about how my drummer couldn't hear me at all (they have a powerfully good monitor system)
However, when I went off stage, a band who we've played shows with a bunch said that it was the best sounding balance they had heard us with. A bassist from a very good band told me he dug what I was doing. When I told him what happened he was like "what? that was just your stage rig? it sounded right on!"
so, there you go. Pumping 900 watts in a B410 will carry it past over 10000 watts of F.O.H.. thank god.
