So I just put a combo amp on Craigslist the other night. The only reply I've received to far has been: "would love to know if this item is still up for sale?"
Right away, I know it's a scammer, I've gotten identical emails before, but this time I decided to play along, so I wrote back and said yes...
He wrote back this email:
" Thanks for the swift response, just to let you know that am
okay with the condition and price of the item, am ready for its
purchase and my form of payment will be by sending you Check via UPS next day delivery.
I'll be responsible for the pick-up and the pick up money will be
included in your payment to avoid delay and to enable pick up company to schedule an appropriate time for he pick-up at your location after check has been cashed,as i have other properties to be moved alongside with yours.
I would have really love to come for the viewing but due to
my work frame that might not be possible, but if you have the
pics, might want to have a good look. Please do get back to me with your full name and address including your cell and land number so i can make out payment."
Again, I've received the exact same response before, no doubt it is a scammer. So I replied (with deliberate errors):
"Hello Mr Brahm for your reply...
You say you have a pick up company that can come for this product, that reminds me, I have a delivery company that can deliver the product. To facilitate this transaction, we have three options:
1) Your pick up company can pick up this product directly from me.
2) My delivery company can deliver this product directly to you.
3) My delivery company can deliver the product to a location halfway between you and I, where your pick up company will then pick it up.
I do apologize for I too am framed in a work frame that prevents me from personally transacting this transaction. However, I can't believe how lucky we are to have a delivery company and a pick up company, otherwise this would be much more difficult.
Where are you location, it is must needed for to make this transaction. Please, we must not waste too much time because my work frame will require me to be traveling again soon. Thanks you again."
I'm still waiting to hear back... Anyone else try to string along a scammer? Let's hear some stories! |

brought it to the credit union.
And after about 4 hrs , they did discover that it was a fake.
They also said that If I cashed it , I couldve gotten it trouble.
(good thing you can always tell by the "broken english" that they type in.No offense to anyone who types in broken english. But seriously, they should learn a little english before trying to scam around here.)

Good warnings, too: If you ever choose to screw with one of these people, don't use your real email or give ANY real info about yourself - name, address, phone number, etc. |

It's the way they write that is the giveaway. I say let it be and keep leading them on like Coldfoot Luke did. Antagonize these foolish people a little! |

I went ahead and packed the stuff to give them an estimate and found out that UPS wouldn't even go there and if they went USPS it would have cost over $400 to ship. They said they were selling to someone over craiglist. I warned them that it might be a scam. They still paid for the packing, but took it all home to see what to do about it.
