Yeah, exactly right! You don't HAVE TO be completely stupid, although it can help but I'm not even quite sure.

Look at the number of super-clever and super-educated guys and gals you can find in sects! That's not a matter of intelligence or education.
These marketers/gurus use psychological triggers to abuse people, and people of all walks of life: they use "weaknesses" in their preys, be it a temporary weakness or "chronic" weakness: a guy who feels "stuck" in his progress, who doubts he can make it and suffers from that, is an ideal prey! It doesn't require more than that!
Why d'you think this guy Scott, after he's literally begged his visitors to give him their e-mail address, ends his rant by "And remember... believe in yourself, believe you can do it!" that comes completely out of the blue? And the close-up on his face, at this stage... the work of a cool guy who wants to give you everything or that of a guy who's watched hundreds of marketing videos and uses everything he can because he's become money-crazy? Come on!

Yeah... I'm not sure everybody sees that "from miles away", you know. Not to say I'm sure of the exact opposite. When somebody is
in doubt/in a "weak state", he/she can be VERY blind and act VERY stupidly. I'm no exception! Just getting (a bit) older and experienced. So I think I can see a genuine, honest person when I see one now, better than I could before. But I'll probably get f...ooled again. Not so easily and certainly not that way, that's all.
