Funny Athiest Drummer Craiglist ad

Sign in to disble this ad
Funniest thing i have read off craigslist ever

http://sarasota.craigslist.org/muc/875754455.html

"Atheist drummer looking for reliable atheist band. its important to me that members of the band do not have any belief in a higher power. cause thats just weak man. I can play pretty much any atheist genre: atheist country, atheist rock, atheist rap/metal, atheist nu-metal. Once I even played in an atheist christian rock band. it sounds similar to christian rock, but the lyrics are just empty and don't glorify anything, you know what I'm saying? I can play anything, as long as both your god and or satan are not involved. I've got a good "look", massive amounts of "pro gear", and a place to play. i'm between the ages of 31 and I play in the pocket, expect when I'm out of the pocket, but I'll let you know when that is. because i have a big sign that I hold up when I'm playing out of the pocket. I have two arms, but can play with only one, if thats what you're into. three drumsets to choose from so pick your color, your atheist color that is.

looking forward to hearing from you. "

I am guessing this is a parody of the [insert X here] in place of Athiest ads and I don't think this is allowed, what with the religion and stuff.

Well if The Christian Praise and Worship Band Bassists Club is allowed to exist then this post surely is.

The CP&WB Club is a group of bassists who share the same type of gig. They don't mock anyone else, so the club is able to continue. I believe that the main rule regarding religion here on TB is sort of "live and let live." However, religion is something that a lot of people feel very strongly about, one way or another, and discussion regarding religion often times does not stay as civil as it ought to.

Also, QORC, the fact is that when you are creating art, you generally want to do it with people who share the same worldview as you. I highly doubt that Rage Against the Machine would have taken Tim C. on as a bassist if he were a registered Replublican. My band is a "Christian" band, and when we were looking for a drummer a few months back, we sat down and discussed what we were looking for, and we had to rule out a few of our good friends who wanted to try out because their beliefs and lives did not line up with what we wanted to accomplish with our band. Sometimes it's silly, but sometimes there is a reason behind actions that you don't fully understand.

I'm an atheist and it doesn't bother me in the least to see the Christian Praise & Worship Band club thread when browsing through forums, or seeing it in people's sigs.

"Live and let live". That club isn't around here to attack non-Christians.
And I don't have to go in the thread.

Actually (I'm a third generation atheist in a predominant atheist country) I find it very cool that those CP&W bassists devote their music toward their belief.
You do it because you feel good about it and have fun at the same time... I assume.
If it helps you being a good person, and being a good bassist I can't see anything wrong with that.

An atheist praise & worship bassist club would be out of the question I guess:
lack of songs to play.

To the ad from the OP:
I strongly feel that this is just a spoof.
Someone who is pissed of at perhaps some Christian rock bands he dealt with.

It's actually a bit funny, luckily he isn't offending anyone.

Bassman1185, why do you rule out non-Christian drummers?
Is it because of the music you play?

I never had problems with it. I gigged a few times with a Jewish guitar player. Each time togheter we rocked.
Perhaps it was more universal music.

Definitely a spoof - I wouldn't take it too seriously.

"I'm between the ages of 31 and I play in the pocket..."

*sigh* I can't wait until I reach the age of "I play in the pocket".
