Funny line read in a book last night

From Douglas Adams' "So Long And Thanks For All The Fish":

"Gunfire erupted from a window high above them, but it was only a bass player getting shot for playing the wrong riff three times in a row, and bass players are two a penny in Han Dold City."

It's been a while since I'd read that book, and it struck me as really funny this time.

I just finished that book a couple nights ago. It didn't seem to really have an ending, or at least there wasn't any good buildup to the last part. Good book, but not as good as the others in the series (haven't gotten to Mostly Harmless yet)

I love Douglas Adams so much. HHGTTG is pretty much the best thing ever.

Adams had an affinity to bass players it seems. In one of his Dirk Gently books, there is a charcter, neighbour of the main character, I believe, who plays bass, and he goes into some serious detail to describe the racket.
