GeneralElectric and the Porter Family: The Movie

Sign in to disble this ad
Many of us by now are familiar with the wonderful thread started by the now legendary GeneralElectric. I discovered it about an hour after Andre's first post, and have been following it ever since. It gets better by the day. A fantastic, heartwarming story, and proof as to why bass players are at the highest level of human existence.

I will be disappointed if this story does not end up being chronicled in a book and a film. Time to start thinking about which of today's actors would best play the parts of G.E., Butch, Andre, Butch's daughter, and others involved in this story.

Please post your casting ideas now!

I was thinking GE could be played by Paul Benedict:

This sounds very interesting.... let's have Peter Jackson direct!

If James Cameron does it, it'll be 17 years before it's completed....

Natalie Portman could play the love interest. Maybe she could resprise her Gangsta rap from SNL.

This is serious now. Someone should sit down with Butch and help him write his story as an autobiographical novel. Hook him up with an agent (hopefully one who is also a bass player in this community, not some shyster). Get it published, then sell the idea to Hollywood. Butch gets his cut all the way through the process, maybe TB can negotiate a cut too to help sustain this fine online resource. Come on, I know we got guys out there with the right connections. Now that would be even more of a hook up than we have seen so far - Butch and his family could be set up pretty well if things click. Let's keep the momentum going...

In case you haven't seen the latest, here are the links to news article and video of Butch...
