Gigs You Never Knew About?

Sign in to disble this ad
My band has just had a very weird message come into our inbox. Well, I say weird but the message is perfectly normal in it's content. It's from the sound man for a gig we're booked for on Sunday asking us what we need etc. The weird thing is we are quite unaware of any gig we have booked on said date.

Most bizarre.

So after looking into it I notice that the promoter has booked us before at the same venue but the gig was then cancelled due to the venue shutting down. However, the venue was recently reopened and the gigs rebooked. The only thing is they seem to have forgotten to tell some of the bands (e.g. us) that this has happened. Talk about your epic fails.

Here's an excerpt from their blog:

"All bands that have been booked will still be playing, only on different dates.

If you have not been contacted about your new date listing then we apologize fully and ask that you just fling a message our way."

If we were not contacted then how the bloody hell were we meant to know to "fling" them a message

I don't care for ESP, overpriced in my opinion.

And mental powers too. :P

I know the feeling.

My ISP keeps sending me email notifications telling me I'm not signed up to receive their email notifications.

Sounds like some real pros running that place. So have you contacted them yet? What's the deal? You gonna play? Don't leave us hangin here!

Well we did have another gig on that date, but something with the promoters f'd up there so we're not playing that. We have a practice booked so we're just going to do that instead. We've got some songs that need sorting out for a gig in a couple of weeks, thinking of doing something with the other band we're playing with and we need to get it practised.

had something similar happen to us. We were on our way to a pretty big gig (large theater) and we get a call from a place we've never played asking us why we missed our 5pm load in time. when we asked *** was up the guy said "someone booked you for this date, why aren't you here?"

apparently one of our fans were so desperate to see us she booked us at this place and then didn't tell us. The venue owner declared "we'll never book you guys again!"

four weeks later, he booked us. venue sucked. wish we hadn't signed onto another show next month.
