Great gig last night ...

My singer/songwriter partner and I were entered in the Connecticut Blues Society's Solo/Duo competition last night, and took it!

Well, the semi's anyway. Final will be 10/23, and the winner goes on to compete in Memphis in the spring. Ron won the CT title as a solo act in 2008, and represented CT in Memphis in the spring of '09. I've been playing bass for him for the past 18 months or so. We're recording our upcoming gig in Hollowell, ME next week, and hope to get a live CD out of it.

The competition was a juried event, and participants were judged on specific criteria ... and not a popularity contest based on the number of cheering friends we could attract.

My Tacoma Thunderchief sure got a lot of attention from the judges and other players in the crowd. Next round I'll play the upright.
