Thumbs up Great gig in OKC. Gotta brag...

Man I've read so many posts and written more than a few about stuff that goes wrong with a show that I just had to brag about this one that went RIGHT in every way.

Last weekend, my KISS tribute band Dressed To Kill played a radio station event in Oklahoma City hosted by BOB FM 96.9.

First, the sponoring radio station and venue (Spinozi's on NW 63rd) contacted me about the show and we quickly agreed on a price which covered production of light, sound, stage, dressing rooms, food, beverage etc. and we basically just had to bring ourselves, our backline and our pyro and other effects. They took care of 100% of the promotions which included tons of free radio ads, and were always available to me for questions about production.

So the day of the gig, the stage is great... the sound man/light guys are great and the event coordinators have us set up in a fully stocked tour bus with all the free food, beer and water we can consume. One basic stipulation... no pooping in the bus toilet. No problem...

The opening band is a tastely little blues band who played just the perfect kind of groovy drinking music that kept people happy but didn't get them too excited. Then the radio guys intro us and we come out onto the stage, the lights go on, the pyro starts up and the place goes nuts. No idea how many were there... guesing maybe 1500 or so but it was packed. And I knew it would be a good night when the girls at the front of the stage were already flashing us before we played a note. Speaking of girls... there were a ton and the ratio was VERY favorable, fellas.

It was probably the funnest (is that a word?) show we've ever done. Great night for us musically and the crowd just couldn't have been better. We posed for pics and autographs for nearly two hours afterwards and then got paid immediately and were requested back as soon as details can be worked out. The radio guy told me last week that he's gotten hundreds of positive comments and nothing negative and that they were very happy with the show and would be happy to plug us anytime we are in town.

It was also a fundraiser for special olympics and they raised over $3500 for the OKC chapter.

Just a fantastic rock n roll atmosphere and there were no fights, but there were a lot of hot drunk chicks trying to get on stage and find out how long my tongue is! heh...

Only one minor technical problem that required a couple minutes down time, but other than that 20 songs and about two hours of concert style old dumb fun 70's rawk!

GOOOD times! Here are a couple of pics... but if you go to our site http://www.dressedtokillok.com you can see all of em. The photos by the way are amazing and are by a friend of mine who did a hell of a good job on them.

Usually I'm not cool with people getting on our stage because we have a lot of choreographed stuff and are wearing platform boots, but we made an exception that night!

This last one is my favorite just because it catches me and my frontman Mike in an unguarded "holy crap can you believe how freakin cool this is????" moment while our lead guitar player plays his smoking guitar solo.

Thanks dude! I appreciate the comments very much. It's definately a good show and we put a ton of work into all aspects of it. It's honestly just very fun to see people when they are "buying" into what they are seeing and hearing. They know it's a trib band but you also know that you are watching an actor when you see him in a movie right? But you can still believe his portrayal of a character if he does a good job. That's what we try to do.
