Great Way To Shut A Singer Up

Sign in to disble this ad
One gig we played years ago there was a band opening for us that had an angry vegan lady singing. She was one of those ladies that was hot, but she turned you off just by opening her mouth.

Anyway, she kept ranting on and on between songs with her politics. The crowd was silent, not interested in anything more than their drinks and listening to the music. Finally, 5 minutes (literally) into her tirade some drunk from the back of the bar yelled, "Show us your ****!" The audience began laughing, she got mad and they started into their next song. She didn't say another word the rest of the night.LOL

I still wonder if her band actually paid that guy to say that. They probably should've hired him as their manager.

Great story! If you play enough gigs, you get many strange anecdotes to pass along.

Anyone who doesn't have a good comeback for that should probably do their public speaking somewhere that is not a bar.

Sometimes, no make that all the time, during practice my drummer and keyboard player start talking about recording equipment in great detail between songs. The guitarist and I have no idea what they are taking about, its like a different language so I start playing a quiet walking bass line and he plays some jazz chords to try and make their conversation into a jazz spoken poemy kinda song, its very funny. After minute they would stop and say what are you two doing? Works every time.

I suppose you have to be there

From the tasteless files: Courtney Love was being overly abusive to the crowd in Cincy once during a gig. Nobody booed her or anything, she was just on one. Finally after so many "rednecks", "a**holes", "losers", etc., someone in the crowd got sick of it and tossed a shotgun shell on stage. Shut her right up.

I remember 1 year at an HFStival in DC, hole had a spot in the middle of the day, she decided to pull out calling people a hole and losers, she got smacked right in the face with a shoe, she shut her mouth after that. I could tell she got hit pretty hard, she stepped back for a minute or so....... (she had a red mark on the side of her face for the rest of their set). Friggin hilarious, but again choose your words wisely........

Portland Or. quite a few years ago when Courtney Love was touring with Manson, she came on stage with a Fender JagStang (the guitar Kurt wanted, that hadn't been made till after his death)

Please to recall that Kurt is from the NW, she apparently forgot, and was booed viciously, she made 1/2 of the first song, bleated out some obscenities, and left the stage.

One more quiet lead singer.

That was a purely extemporaneous piece of chicanery, inspired by El Bajo's jazzy hushings. I have a certain proclivity toward off the cuff poetry, owing mainly to the fact that I am completely full of ****.
