Guitar player vanishes, rig for sale cheap

As best the band can tell our lead guitar player is either dead, in a coma, in prison or has been abducted by aliens.

He has been MIA for 3 weeks now. We tried calling him, texting him, e-mailing him, etc. No word. No nothing.

So if anybody wants to buy a custom tube amp and half stack, let me know.

Yeah, I see the funny part but seriously, there could be something nasty going on. Or not. Can't tell until he's found.

I'd say wait for few more weeks... Also, he might be mad for losing his rig just because he spontaneously went roller skating the Great Wall from end to end

Have you tried calling his relatives, his girlfriend, anybody else that might know the whereabouts of the missing bloke?

We had a similar situation, our drummer missed a gig and was AWOL with no contact for almost a week. Turned out he was in the hospital- you might want to give your guy the benefit of the doubt until you hear what happened.

Our drummer went missing once right in the middle of a song. Sensing he was not with us I turned around and sure enough the more I looked the more he was not there. He had fallen backwards out of the second story hay window of the barn loft we were playing in. Did not hurt himself though; landed on his head.

Anyone who sold my rig - regardless of why I disappeared - better be able to defend themselves when I show back up !

I got a gig under similar circumstances once. The bass player owed a large chunk of change in back child support payments. He got pulled over, they found out he had a warrant for being a deadbeat jackass and just disappeared. I think I was playing with that band for 3 or 4 weeks before they finally figured out where he went.

Three weeks is way to short. You need to at least give the guy a couple of months.

I was semi-joking about the rig for sale. Semi because we will probably send a registered letter to work and home address telling him that we will sell his equipment in 30 days (or whatever time is required by Landlord Tenant Law.) I figure this situation is similar to tenants who leave stuff in their apartment.

Anyhow I even called his work and they gave me the standard answer of that he is not in and took a message to call me.

Last time I checked there were phones in hospitals and even jails.

This is very irresponsible of him to not contact us. There is no shame in telling us that he had commitments, wanted to take a break, just did not feel it, or whatever. We are all adults here. It is not cool to leave us hanging on 5 gigs!

The band leader will probably replace him regardless. He is an excellent player but just can't be counted on and has broken our trust. Plus we care about the guy and want to know what is up with him.

No transactions here please. Use PM or move to classifieds.

I think you ought to wait a bit, you never know what can happen to people, sickness, accidents, or whatnot.

even if the guy's in jail selling off his gear would be a really low blow.....benefit of the doubt for sure.....if it comes to pass that he was on a jag or shacked up,or even just doesn't care, firing is in order, but unless there is money owed he should get his gear back.....even if he owes child support and got locked up for non payment the band is not the family court judge.....

Like I said I was (semi-)joking about the gear. I am not the band leader and it is not my practice space, so I will let the band leader decide on what to do with the gear. It is currently stored in the back (locked room) and will be safe.

Maybe if the guy sees his gear for sale on Craigslist he will contact us.

I do hope the guy is okay.

I did quit a band and left some gear with them for a while. I thought that I would help them out.

It turned out okay but in hindsight would not do that again. My gear could have been easily broken, lost or stolen.

I kind of forgot about it until I saw a picture on the web of an outdoor concert and the new bass player had my amp. The next day I high tailed it over to the practice space and got my equipment back. No hard feelings and I am still in contact with the band.
