Last night, I went to hang out with a friend of mine at the bar he works at, and there was a band playing. The entire venue only holds about 75 people. The rhythm guitard told me to "get the f*** out of the way" because he was bringing in his gear. He had a Marshall full stack and 4 Hamer guitars, plus 3 different pedal boards. He spent almost 45 minutes setting up the pedal boards and tuning all 4 guitars, then went and set up his own lighting rig. Finally the band starts playing half an hour late, and in the course of a 15 song set, he used 1 guitar and maybe 2 effects. I actually walked up after the set to ask him why he carried that much gear around if he wasnt going to play it, and why he held the start of the show up to set up his lighting rig. His only answer: "I signed a sponsership contract with Hamer, and they want me to focus the lights on myself and my guitars, and they also tell me to bring at least 4 guitars on stage no matter how small the venue is." Does this sound like crap to anyone other than me? Personally, it seems more like he just wants to show off all of his gear to make himself look better than he actually is, especially considering how horribly he was playing. |

The other time, my band was opening for his other band, and he wouldn't let us move his guitars off of the stage, so we had to cram all 5 of us into about 3/4 of the stage. |

I've met guys, especially guitarists, like this in my life and it's usually just an ego thing. I have no idea why Hamer, a big name in the guitar industry, would sponsor a player who's not getting national recognition and tell him to bring at least 4 guitars to a freakin' bar. He wasn't on tour or anything was he? Sounds like a line to me.

I did ask the guy who does booking for the bar, and he told me that the guitard works at a guitar store here in town, so not only is he lying about being a contract player for hamer, but they aren't even his guitars. |

why would they endorce him if they imply hes going to be playing small venues..like the 75 max. capacity venue you saw him at..
i can see having a large pedalboard and you only happen to use a few effects one night, but the marshall and lighting rig is just obnoxious..especially the lighting thing..

or repeatedly touch, bump, lean on the stands and guitars to get on his nerves

But yeah, it seems like a complete dork you met there. Maybe he is sponsored, maybe he just likes to show off like that, doesn't matter, he's still a complete dork.
Kick one of his guitars so it falls next time.

Also, no mention of Hamer(or anyone else) sponsoring any of them. but, if you want to check them out for yourselves, its www.myspace.com/radiodogsusa
