Guy Tries To Steal Guitar While We're Onstage

Sign in to disble this ad
We were in the middle of a set in a club where the stage was right by the front door. We're jamming when my lead guitarist suddenly stops playing. I look over just in time to see him leap over the railing and run out the front door. Some guy had grabbed his spare guitar and made a run for it. Dumb a** didn't get very far before he dropped it. Fortunately it was in the case, no harm done.

Talking

He let the guy go. He was just happy to get his axe back. I think he may have even finished the song. I guess the thief wanted to learn to play steal guitar.

Takes a big man to do what your guitarist did.

There are only a few situations where it's acceptable for a band member to affect a song in such a major way. Thats one of them! Glad he got the gear back!

That guy really deserved a beating. I wouldnt care if they took cds or an mp3 player or even my car. You dont steal my basses. The last crackhead who tryed is probably still in a wheelchair. Because portland is so bad I chain my gear down in my truck. And I went back in to get my amp and come back to see my window broken and a guy who looks really strung out on something trying to pull my hard case which is chained down out the window. I walk up he doesnt notice me and keeps trying to get it out. I set down my amp and grab a tire iron thats near the spare tire. He noticed after I had the tire iron that it was my bass he was trying to steal. He ran and I was right behind him. I swung the tire iron at his knees. He fell down I called the cops and they took him away. Cool think was the fact that he had a warrant out for his arrest. And the reward money payed for some cool new effects, and insurance payed for my new window

Great story. Glad your guitarist got the axe back. I wonder what would have happened to that dude if you got on the mike and told the crowd that there was a thief in the house..
